NPR calling Conyer's Dem. Con. Meeting a Mock Hearing?
I heard this on NPR today, and the emphasis on "staging" a "mock hearing" really bothered me. When I watched last week, CSPAN called it a Democratic Congressional Meeting. What is up with this?

Democrats Stage Mock Hearing on Iraq Memo

News & Notes with Ed Gordon, June 21, 2005 · Several House democrats staged a mock Judiciary Committee hearing in the basement of the Capitol building last week, demanding President Bush provide answers to questions raised by a leaked British memorandum. The memo details a 2002 meeting between British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his security cabinet where Blair was told "intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy" by the Bush administration. To discuss the memo and its implications, host Ed Gordon speaks with Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY).

2. Here is my note to them:
This is *expletive* unbelievable. A Congressman who was on the Watergate committee and has been in Congress for over 40 years and is the ranking member of the judiciary committee holds a serious hearing on a deadly serious issue in these macabre times and this is the sneering title, with an equally sorry little accompanying blurb, that you come up with? This program is titled "News"?

It is utterly irresponsible of a tax-payer funded organization to be using such a flippant attitude toward war, and Presidential misdeeds leading us into it.

Our Democratic Republic stands no chance with this kind of a media. Hopefully your kids will not mind fighting and dying in this senselessness. And I hope they know how you covered it too.

4. That's National rePublican Radio
Every day for months now there has been some pro-war happy talk piece on both Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Not a word is heard from anyone in the peace movement, ever.

It's Stalinism wrapped in an American flag.
