19. Here's The Text From Link (StopAnnCoulter.com was original source) |

This story is being reported across the web but there has been no confirmation from anyone in the MSM or the Bush Administration. I will urge caution, since this story has not been confirmed, but my nightmare may be starting right now. It looks as though Chief Justice William Rehnquist has submitted his resignation to President Bush. In doing so this will bring a battle that many have never seen. Bush has the chance to unite the country but, I expect him to nominate an ultra conservative judge to take the open seat and I expect Scalia to be nominated for the Chief Justice post

Hello everyone. Now I know that we usually, indeed always, only post things that are Ann Coulter related. We're sort of masochistic that way. But we have become privy to a yet-to-be-broken news story. According to a source very close to the Bush administration, US Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist has submitted his resignation to President Bush. Apparently they are waiting until the Supreme Court's term ends this week to make this announcement . This comes after months of speculation that he was nearing retirement, due largely to poor health. Numerous sources, however, had speculated in recent weeks that Justice Rehnquist might actually stay on for another year. According to our source, President Bush has accepted the Chief Justice's resignation, so look for this story to break towards the end of this week. This, of course, means a potentially heated Senate battle over Bush's nominee-to-be. According to our source, the short list of possible nominees includes John Roberts (D.C. Circuit), Michael McConnell (10th Circuit), J. Michael Luttig (4th Circuit), and J. Harvie Wilkinson (4th Circuit). We can all look forward to Ann Coulter's incoherent ramblings on the topic.

4. That might explain keeping Bolton around a little longer.... |

Because if the Democrats block him, then they may be less tempted to block a SC nominee? Maybe?

It's not like this is one of the moderate judges leaving, this will only be a replacement for Rehnquist.

I'm more worried about when/if a liberal judge retires during Bush rule.

18. Rumors are when the SCOTUS ends this session |
|
which is at the end of this month...not sure of the exact day.
Perhaps the rumors of his resignation are true then. Maybe he's already turned in his letter with a "effective on" date and it's just not public. As soon as it is public, the shitstorm begins like we've never seen before. By keeping under wraps until SCOTUS officially concludes doesn't allow the newQler distraction.

15. Well, we've been whistlin' through the graveyard on this one |
|
If this is true, it's not exactly unexpected.
For me, perhaps the biggest issue in presidential politics is the fact that the President is the guy who nominates judges for the Judiciary Branch and they are all lifetime appointments. If we win or if we lose as we have been, the judiciary is influenced for decades. Seeing Scalia rise to Chief Justice and seeing the dawn of "the Scalia court" is not a happy prospect. Remember also, that Justice Ginsberg has battled cancer and that Justice Stevens is well past the age of 80. More sour news waiting to happen.

Yeah, what a bummer for Bush.
Michael Jackson is off the radar screen, and Paris Hilton is engaged and not as active at the moment.
Hey! Where's the smoke screen?

22. rumor was he was going to resigned on the 27th |
|
and Bush Inc. would announce a new nominee on the July 4th weekend, with flags waving...
maybe the reason the Congress is waving it's little pieces of red, white and blue, pre-July 4th weekend and this nomination.
If you don't have the truth or facts on your side, wave your flag to distract.
