Senselessbrenner compares Flag Burning to Dred Scott |
|
I'm not kidding about this. Our good friend James Senselessbrenner stood on the House floor arguing for the Flag Burning amendment. He compared the proposed amendment with the corrections of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments on Dred Scott.
I don't think a flag or two a year is of the same magnitude.

2. I've been listening to this flag crap on C-Span |
|
this morning, but I'm about to turn it off because it's making me ill. This exercize is just an avoidance (and cover up) of the real problems in this country. No wonder Congressional approval rating is so low. Senselessbrenner is a fool.

I would know. I grew up in his ignorant district.

They hit us with gay-marriage yesterday…today it’s the flag…tomorrow we’ll probably be debating one of those other hot pressing issues of our times like having “God” in the Pledge of Allegiance.
These people use the façade of the superfluous to keep the minions ignorant of their real crimes. If I end up in hell upon my death, I’ll get it confused with a Republican Party fund raiser.

5. They cultivate not just this Ignorance, but even more importantly, |
|
the physical BUZZ that you get from hate. Many of their followers are addicted to their own bio-chemical highs that Rove and his Church-cartels give them psycho-active labels for like: patriotism, strength, just (material) rewards, values, heroes, vision, good vs. evil, divine inspiration etc.

Loved the "church cartel" comment by the way.
Conservative is the true "feel good" ideology. For years, they said it was Liberals who were the "feel good" party...Implying we didn't think about our principles, just "felt" we needed to do X, Y, Z.
You will find no movement with less intellectual underpinnings than the modern day Conservative movement.
I was part of the that movement at one time and it DID have an intellectual foundation that combined Libertarian economics and Social Conservatism based on one’s interpretation. Now it appears nothing more than a theocracy and/or Aristocracy seeking to justify whatever nefarious outcomes of their scandalous lies see the light of day.

14. My husband is a Libertarian and an attorney. |

This has given me an appreciation for PROCESS, and how it should be respected at least as much as whatever a "Value" is, moral or otherwise.
...............
There must be a way to research the church-cartel idea.

17. Don't forget abortion. |

All of these topics are easy, easy, easy ways to distract -- as you say, bait and switch. And they're cost-free distractions; there's no political penalty such as a need to raise taxes tied to these emotional issues. Pop up every election cycle, and whenever Bush is tanking.

7. why waste your breath or time on that ignorant tosser |

He'll be dead soon enough for his sins and we can all breathe a sigh of relief. I don't mean that any violence will come to him, except that father time is ticking on, and he's got an appointment.
He has become a shill, a flaming lost rhetorical soul waiting for his meetup with saint peter. Deaf and blind, there is no other appointment on his book, nor will any be made until his meetup with them pearly gates. I hope he introduces more stupid legislation as he better hurry as life is so short and precious, that we'd miss having such a wanker to entertain us while we ourselves wait for time to undo us.

get all irate over the thought of someone burning an American Flag... but can't wrap their brain around why someone would be upset over Gitmo Guards flushing the Koran.

Destroying that is far worse than burning the symbol.

13. Defending the actual flag is not the same as |

defending what it stands for . . .
Funny how many people line up for the former, and claim that the latter is "too expensive" . . . and "UnAmerican"

Then we can talk away. But our speech must be limited when we feel that something is wrong and hope to make a positive change. Makes sense, no?

15. is he aware that burning is the actual proper way to dispose of worn and |

tattered flags? Maybe he should go on down to the VFW and watch them have a flag disposal ceremony.
