The Hill: GOP attacks were coordinated rollout
snip>

Republicans had also intended to talk about Iraq and national-security issues this week. That was before Durbin’s remarks caught fire in the national media and Pelosi called the Iraq war a “grotesque mistake” during floor debate Thursday about the defense authorization bill. In the wake of those remarks, Republicans opted to highlight both comments, according to a number of GOP leadership aides.
....
Late yesterday, the House Armed Services Committee released statements from seven members condemning Durbin’s remarks.

Republican sources said this coordinated rollout was a reaction to the statements made by Durbin and Pelosi.

“This was handed to us,” said Sean Spicer, a spokesman for the House Republican Conference. “You can’t plan that.”

Republican Chief Deputy Whip Eric Cantor (Va.), the only Jewish member of the conference, put out a press release itemizing perceived anti-Semitic and anti-Israel remarks made over the years by elected Democrats.

1. Honestly. I am so fucking sick of the whining...
Mr Cantor, HAVE YOU ISSUED A PRESS RELEASE RE: LYNCHING AMENDMENT AND THE 11 SENATORS WHO REFUSED TO SIGN? Didn't think so...
Fucking HYPOCRITE!

BTW- "perceived" would be the operative word here.

peace.

2. "Perceived" by deceptive people with a rigid agenda.......
BTW- "perceived" would be the operative word here.

According to the wingnuts, if you think Israel's ever done ANYTHING wrong, you're anti-semitic. It's a low, dirty game they play.

They do the same thing when we talk about the USA, though. If you have any issues with our policy as established by the administration, you are an anti-American terrorist sympathizer. These people have refined opportunistic oversimplifications down to an art.

3. Absolutely correct.
I was called anti-Semitic because I questioned Israel's heavy-hand over the Palestinian people.

Of course, I happen to know that Arabs also are Semitic and shot back that A.) it was impossible for me to be anti-Semitic simply because of my statement and because my son is half Arabic and B.) the statement was in regards to the political and governmental structure of the state of Israel and not the practicing Jews within its borders.

Low-down, dirty game is correct.

4. The term "heavy-hand" is quite generous, IMO.
The image of those Palestinians defending themselves against the Israeli Army (tanks, machine guns, etc.) with nothing but stones and sticks is a moment in time that I will never forget!

peace.

8. My son is half Palestinian.
Just so you know.

I used "heavy-hand" to back away from the rhetoric, more than anything.

My current boyfriend, btw, is Jewish - and agrees with me on Israel's roles as a nation state.

We MUST learn to separate hatred for a religion and a people from the evils a nation perpetuates as a "government."

Heck, we don't like it when we visit Europe and everyone assumes we're war-mongering imbeciles. Same thing applies there.

5. Yep.
And still the Democrats on the Hill DON'T - EFFING - GET IT!

This is how the game was played, this is how the game has been played, this is how the game will be played, by the goons of the Repunkican Party. Until and unless the Hill Dems figure that out, Durbin's bend-over-and-grab-the-ankles pose will be greeted by boots, 2x4s, and laughter from the goons until we STOP EFFING DOING IT!

Jesus.

6. It truly is sad.
The Democrats will never learn. Durbin should have rode out the storm. Democrats should have come to his defense by pointing out all the harsh remarks Republican have made for which no apology was ever offered. I am so tired of the Democrats caving;the Repubs never do. The Democrats look so weak, like losers and people do not respect losers.
