MUST WATCH Video - Rep. Gene Taylor On The House Floor

I'm going to be honest, before today I had never heard of Rep. Gene Taylor from Mississippi but this Congressman is an amazing Democrat and an outstanding American.

While the House was debating the flag desecration amendment Rep. Taylor stood up against the chairman of the Judiciary Committee and spoke truth to power.

Rep. Gene Taylor believes that we should be taking care of all Americans and worrying about our real problems instead of worrying about a symbol. Rep. Gene Taylor spoke of the Social Security Trust fund.

During all of this action Rep. Sensenbrenner tries to silence Gene Taylor by calling his additions not germane. Rep. Sensenbrenner is up to his usual games.

At least you don't have to endure Bass' asinine television ads every two years; they are pseudo-folksy claptrap that portray Bass, a wealthy, waspy son of a congressman, as good-ole-boy Charlie, with lots of Larry, Darrel and Darrel types with their flannel shirts and Elmer Fudd hats.

19. He does a good job for the folks in Mississippi...

...but I don't think we want him in the White House. He is the most conservative Democrat in Congress. He only votes with the dems about 50% of the time.

From his Wikipedia article:

Taylor is one of the more conservative Democrats in the House. He voted for all four articles of impeachment against Bill Clinton, and has frequently skipped Democratic conventions. He is also a cosponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment. However, he has been a severe critic of the Bush Administration's fiscal policy. He has also denounced Vice President Dick Cheney's ties to Haliburton.

I would, however, like to see him take on Trent Lott for the Senate. He has a very populist message. He might be able to pull of an upset.

He is good, I've heard a few of his speechs. He's held Trent Lott's old seat for years without any problem.
