Scott McClellan Gets my Vote for BIGGEST REPUBLICAN WHORE
Does Scott McClellan really believe any of the refuse he spews? :puke:

Is anyone else sick of hearing his press briefings wherein he almost daily calls Democrats obstructionists, "do nothings," and various other nasty names?

I listen in on C-SPAN and wonder how he can possibly believe any of what he says is true! You couldn't pay anyone with a conscience enough money to be Bush's foul mouthpiece.

A couple of weeks ago, he had a priceless exchange with a woman reporter about the low stats. on the president calling on women reporters. Scott said it isn't the president's fault he almost never calls on women.

In fact, I can't recall a SINGLE time when Scott has admitted that ANYTHING said or done by this administration was less than perfect. Somehow The Emperor Has no Clothes story keeps coming to mind.

Anyone have a favorite Scott story to share?

13. He sure earned his money today.
Having to go before the world and defend Carl Rove ranks right down there with emptying Port-a-Potties.

That woman is a hero of mine, along with Paul Krugman.

8. Subject: Great Minds Think Alike Nikki
Message:
Thomas and Krugman are the best! I LOVE the way she doesn't back down from Scott. I wish the other reporters would learn from her about real journalism. I guess you can't be a real journalist when you're "owned" by a rich guy with a conservative agenda who subtly or not so subtly tells you he won't print (or air) the REALLY unbiased stories. Each time they sit down to write, they must feel him standing over their shoulders saying "Can't we spin this a bit for my buddies in the Bush crime family?" :evilfrown:

9. Well it's always nice to meet another great mind
And your take on the rank and file press seems quite accurate.

You know Krugman got death threats. I wonder if Molly Ivins or Helen Thomas did.

19. Somehow I can't see either of those women being afraid
of a little death threat! They're both pretty amazing if you ask me. I hate to admit it, but I haven't read any Ivins books. Any recommendations, Nikki?

On a related note, did anyone see Krugman and O'Reilly both on with Russert a while back? I swear it looked like O'Reilly was getting ready to punch him, and Krugman was getting ready to duck and cover. But Krugman didn't back down one inch! It was great!!!

22. Oh, you've got to read Molly Ivins.
For background on Bush, read Shrub: The Short but Happy Political Life of George W. Bush. I believe that was co-written with Lou Dubose.

I haven't bought her more recent books, though of course I love to read her columns. I do have Nothing but Good Times Ahead, You've Got to Dance with Them What Brung You, and Molly Ivins Can't Say That, Can She? A lot of that deals with the G.H.W. Bush administration and Clinton, but there's great stuff in there on Ann Richards, Barbara Jordan, Mickey Leland, among others. And her essay on the 4th of July is funny, patriotic, and warm-hearted all at the same time.

Once I met Molly Ivins, and she was everything I'd imagined she'd be: warm, blunt, and just plain hilarious.

24. Thanks for the suggestions CB.
I wonder if Shrub: The Short but Happy Political Life of George W. Bush is a reference to the Hemingway story called The Short Happy Life of Francis McComber. Great story. If I remember correctly, his wife shoots him in the end....

I'll definitely get started on at least one of the books. Meeting Molly Ivins...lucky you!

18. He's Good...
or his writer is good. He is a master at toeing the party line no matter how ridiculous it is. He can lie with the best of them and always with a straight face. Some of the shit he says just amazes me.

What's sick is that there are still some that actually BELIEVE what he says.

21. McClellan defending Rove
For a copy of that Orwellian transcript, check out http://jabbs.blogspot.com

Count the number of times McClellan suggests that Rove's over-the-top insulting, demeaning statement is actually just his way of showing the "different philosophies" of Democrats and Republicans.

What a tool.
