White House is searching for replacement for Rehnquist ? |
|
The White House is in their typical diversion technique whenever they have something secretive going on...they pretend they are busy doing something else. Bush has requested from Rehnquist that he give him a couple of more days to find a replacement before making his announcement. Being a good Republican, Rehnquist has agreed. They will make the announcement by Friday, anonymous sources say. Actually, this is all simple speculation.

1. Rehnquist will almost certainly retire soon |
|
Maybe even this week, I have seen several news sources that have suggested as much. But the Smirk admin has been figuring out who to nominate for the Extreme Court since day one, as the Clinton admin did, and the Gore admin would have. If Smirk wants Rehnquist to wait a few more days, it's not got anything to do with finding a replacement, it's got to do with the timing of the announcement, or with bullying the GOPers in the Senate to stand firm on the nuclear option.

the unthinkable... that he'd nominate Scalia, they'd push the nuke button, and then appoint a less rabid wingnut to replace scalia so they look more moderate.
i've seen lots of less well-known, less controversial names bandied about; all of them have been discussed as "associate justices"- which means * has his Chief Justice pick already, and they are just looking to replace Scalia. As I see it...
