I'm not looking for a Messiah, I'm looking for a Moses.
One very disturbing trend I see in this forum is a tendency to view only ONE candidate as 'the one' to lead our party in November. Some of it is understandable, of course, since many seem genuinely 'in synch' with the candidate they have chosen to support. Unfortunately, the flaw in this level/intensity of support is that it tends to blind that person to the genuinely admirable qualities about the candidates they do NOT support.

I'll tell you very plainly that I am a pragmatic Democrat. As long as the candidate who leads our party in November has a generally broad, progressive stance on the major issues that matter, I will support him, even if it's not MY candidate. I want a candidate who can lead this party, not one who can purify it or make it 'holy'.

Just my $.02.

:)

1. I'm looking for a Larry Bird

Someone who can hit the winning shot from anywhere, talk trash to opponents, maybe throw an elbow here and there, and generally psych out the other team completely.

8. I think we have 5 who can do that, honestly.
The important thing about thos 5 is that NONE of them are going to let the Republicans set the terms of debate, like last time. :)

7. I can hear this speech a thousand times. He's a joy to watch.
Policy proposals with passion!

He is having a great time out there. Room is packed.

He's got the Michael Jordan mojo thang (Pitt).

18. He would be a formidable candidate, IMO.
So would Dr. Dean, Sen. Kerry, Sen. Lieberman (don't laugh!) and Gen. Clark.

5. I've switched my first and second choices three times each.
A long time ago, before I came here, I was firmly in Kerry's camp. Then the IWR vote happened. So I went for Dean. Then Dean started alarming me and Clark entered the race and I threw my support to him. I have absolutely no resolutions about the General so that support won't change. After I dumped Dean for Clark, I still had Dean as my fallback choice. Then Dean alarmed me even more and Kerry moved into my second place slot. Now I'm going back and forth now between Kerry and Edwards (starting to lean heavily toward Edwards though) as my #2.

If Sen. Edwards doesn't do well and drops out, I'll switch again, too. :hi:

Positive posts seem to sink like stones in GD-P2004.

16. Haha...
...I was saying that yesterday - it's why there aren't as many Edwards' posts. JRE doesn't bash other candidates and the other candidates don't bash JRE, so there is very little DU fodder.
