Exactly why are people offended by the idea of a US flag made in China? |
|
Is it because of the Chinese model of government? Labor exploitation in China?

1. It's something so simple as a piece of silked screened cloth |
|
can't be made in this country any more. Flag making in this country represents what happens when the bottom line and greed take precedence over everything else.

3. The idea of child labor/sweatshops producing flags bothers me. |

4. I'd say the ultimate irony |

is having a symbol of this country's "patriotism" produced by a foreign country.
But, yes, the sweatshop aspect is extremely troubling.

5. We shop thrift shops for much of our clothes or I sew them myself. |
|
Hate the idea of sweatshops,
We fly the flag. It's hard to find one not foreign made (ie sweatshop.) They don't have them at thriftshops.
We take very good care of the one we have. Take it in bad weather and at night.

Most flags I've seen flown at private residences are never taken in during inclement weather.
