BWAHAHAHA!! Hillary hits Rumsfeld!!!
On CSPAN3! She just read Rove's words to Rumsfeld and asked, "Mr. Secretary, do you agree with that statement?"

He waffles and claims he doesn't know who made it!

Now on www.cspan.org

Rumsfeld trying to say maybe the comment was taken out of context! Hillary's doing a good job.

5. How do you take something like Rove's quote out of context?
The only way I can see it is if you preceded the quote with, "This is what a conservative hack with shit for brains would say."

18. You'd be impressed if it were someone other than Hillary
I reckon.

Many of us were outraged by that statement by Rove last night. I don't care who said it to Rummy. Somebody did. Good for her! And I'm not even a fan (at all, actually). But if she does something good, however small, I'm going to recognize it.

19. Sure its great that "someone" said "something", but it's a nonsequitur
in this forum.

Couldn't respond because he didn't know who said it and didn't know if it was taken out of context. Blah!

9. Alright Hillary! Make the bastards squirm
Do the same thing they did to the Democrats with Dean and Durbin. Put them on the spot and make them agree or disagree or waffle like the house of pancakes.

11. The one about how liberals wanted to give the 9/11 terrorists therapy
and forgiveness... or some such nonsense.

Rove: Dems Didn't Get 9/11 Consequences

http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/1-06222005-50614...

By: SAM DOLNICK (Wed, Jun/22/2005)
NEW YORK

"Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Rove said. "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war." (snip)

Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for "moderation and restraint" after the terrorist attacks.

"Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies." (snip)

"No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals," Rove said.

21. Well, since we haven't defeated them, maybe we can try the other way now?
You know, Orson Scott Card (who much to my dismay turns out to be a right-wing kind of guy) has written a great many books concerning xenophobia, genocide, the relationship of a community to those outside the community, otherness, and how religion can both strengthen and damage a community. If you've never read the Ender's Game series, I recommend it (I am reading the last Homecoming book now). At any rate, one of the central concepts in Ender's Game was this:

In order to truly destroy an enemy, you must truly understand your enemy. But in order to truly understand your enemy, you must be able to feel as though you ARE your enemy. True understanding is only achieved by loving those you wish to understand, and such love makes it impossible to wantonly destroy said enemy.

It's funny, to me, since he's a conservative, and since I know he supported Bush after 9/11, and concerning Iraq (I do not know if he has changed positions). That theme, something that resonated through his most popular series of books (and definitely has a heavy treatment in this other series I am reading), completely contadicts what the United States has done since 9/11.

At any rate, I bring him up because in terms of understanding an enemy as opposed to fighting an enemy, he's written some very clever and very insightful books on the theme, coyly disguised as sciene fiction. Anyone that hasn't read Ender's Game, if for no other reason than this concept of enemies and understanding, should.

24. The link didn't work for me, but did the reporter bother to get a response
from a Democratic spokesperson for this article?

It's one thing to print Rove's lies, but to print the lies as gospel without someone setting this liar straight is outrageous.

Most who opposed this war have been able to see through Bush's personal vendetta against Saddam from the get-go. We saw the dollar signs in the oil man's eyes from the get-go. We knew Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 from the get-go.

The "motives of the liberals" are that we expect to hear the truth from our leadership!

15. Only heard Rummy's answer
tuned in a little late.

Rumsfeld is getting lightly toasted by Lindsay Graham now. He's "concerned" about how the support for the war has changed.

16. What did Teddy say?
Man, if the Dems come out fighting like this, keep it up, and quit freakin' apologizing, maybe there is some hope of taking back this Congress in '06.

We need strong leaders who ask tough questions. Maybe they all need a field trip to British Parliament to see it in action.

Not a Hilary fan, but I'm glad to hear she has done this.
