from rawstory: GAY.COM CENSORED BY JUSTICE DEPARTMENT
"CENSORED! BY U.S. GOVERNMENT!
Changes to our photo policy mandated by the Bush Administration
Always on the lookout for hot guys and ways to keep people from having fun, the U.S. Dept. of Justice is taking a break from prosecuting terrorists to do something it thinks is more important: restricting your right to view and share photos online."

2. I am confused by this
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 02:35 PM by htuttle
Aren't there about twelve million gay porn sites out there? How is gay.com different? Why would they be held to a different standard, or is the Justice department trying to prohibit 'explicit' photos on ANY website that does business in the US?

And why haven't I heard about this before? Seems like the return of the cursed Communications Decency Act. I'd think that would be huge news!

5. This is the only site they've targeted
A friend told me that they have issued a new policy of a swinging site. If you show explicit photos you must send a photo ID to your local government. He was pretty upset, he used to laugh when I said that things were getting scary, and he's not laughing any more.

7. My first reaction too!!
Obviously, this in intended to be part of the "get tough on CRIME" act. Presumably so you won't notice them stuffing their pockets with zillions in ill-gotten gains.

6. Remember what A$$croft's DoJ was doing the summer before 9/11?
They busted a dozen hookers and a madame in New Orleans. No, they don't have anything better to do. You want them busting up terrorist cells or something?

11. That blows
Rotten.com kicks more ass than any other entity with the possible exception of Howard Dean.

Why does this suddenly make me want to put up porn on the web? I've never had the impulse to do this before....

12. Did you read #10?
"Images that depict bondage or S&M "abuse" are prohibited. (Shockingly, images from Abu Ghraib prison would be censored under the new regulations.)"

A bunch of FU's are running our lives now.

13. Oh. That's right! Those pix were supposed to be released at the end of
this month! The ACLU will get them tomorrow, and will be unable to show them.
