RNC's Ken Mehlman: "What Karl Rove said is true."
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 10:43 PM by quaoar
And these jackals have the audacity to get pissed at anything Howard Dean says.

http://www.montereyherald.com/mld/montereyherald/news/politics/11967420.htm

Republican Party Chairman Ken Mehlman, speaking in Puerto Rico, said there was no need to apologize because "what Karl Rove said is true." White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, asked about the Rove dispute on CNN, noted, "We have seen pretty hot rhetoric from both sides of the aisle lately."

5. How different from the Dems behavior with
Dean and Durbin.

You think the Dems might learn something from this 'take down Dean and Durbin and support Rove' lesson?

8. At the very least
we should demand that Mehlman apologize as well.

6. What a load of steaming shit.
I don't hear anybody on the left calling for the collective deaths of the entire Repuglican party, yet I hear plenty of voices on hate radio calling for the deaths of Democrats, of liberals, of feminists, of gays, of anyone who isn't directly tied to this administration.

This is how Bosnia, Rwanda, Kosovo, and the fascist movements in Europe in the 30s all started, with unopposed hate radio.

Hate radio KILLS, and it's not our side that is spewing hate all over the airwaves. WAKE UP!!! This is WAR folks, and their side has fired the first, second, third, and millionth shots. It's time to FIRE BACK with the truth, and fer krissakes, stop apologizing for telling it!

12. You got that 'right' Warpy.
The right has been upping their 'eliminationist' rhetoric for many years. Now, it's common place for some radio monkey to call for the elimination of this liberal or that liberal judge.

I've heard the same talk from my neighbors. Psy-ops works.

7. great rebuke to herr Karl...
the whole piece is great..

....Mr. Rove, the first thing that I would like to address is Afghanistan - the place that anyone with a true “understanding of 9/11” knows is a nation that actually has a connection to the 9/11 attacks. One month after 9/11, we invaded Afghanistan, took down the Taliban, and left without capturing Usama Bin Laden - the alleged perpetrator of the September 11th attacks. In the meantime, Afghanistan has carried out democratic elections, but continues to suffer from extreme violence and unrest.....

"...Unfortunately, today's Democrat Party is not the one your parents knew. Instead, today's Democrats are singularly focused on obstruction and over-the-top rhetoric, adding nothing to raise the level of discourse and address the concerns of Americans."

Over-the-top rhetoric? This implies that Democrats aren't even real Americans. These guys are unbelievable.

(My emphasis)

13. No Democrat should apologize to these bastards for anything, EVER!!!
I think we learned a lesson.

When Democrat leaders say something stupid, the Repugs and their media machine make a huge scandal and FORCE him to apologize (they also count with the usual pink tutu weasels like Lieberman and Biden to help them in their divisive techniques).

When a Repug says something nasty, they stay together, on message, as one.

See how they do it? That's how the game is played. And the Dems keep falling for it all the freaking time!

:argh:

Now, if the Democrats wanted to be taken seriously, they would KEEP DEMANDING the RESIGNATION of ROVE until the bastard steps down. Just like the Repugs would do if the tables would be turned.

14. "I think we learned a lesson."
You are more of an optimist that I am. I don't think we've learned jack shit. Just wait, the next time a top Democrat says something controversial: Lieberman, Biden, Obama, and the rest of the appeaser crowd will jump on him. It's as regular as clockwork.

15. hot rhetoric? where?
Dean called the GOP a pary of MOSTLY White Christian men, prove that statement false? Rove called liberals, supporters of Terrorism essentially, that we wanted to cuddle, and put them through therapy. Ha, their rhetoric is hot, LW side, the rheteroic is their, but its like throwing tennis balls at a steel plate, and the RW side is throwign down right lies, and we stand there and take it. I"m glad someone stood up against this baffoon today, i hope he apologizes...but, he won't...later, Don.

16. Dean vs. Rove: Corporate Media Spin Cycle
Dean says "Some Republicans HAVEN'T done an honest day's work in their lives."

A corporate/RW media pundit firestorm ensues.

Dean says of Republicans, "It's pretty much a white Christian party."

An incredible media pundit firestorm ensues with the epic frenzy of a hurricane.

*****

Rove says concerning Durbin, "Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals."

Rove continues, "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

*****

To summarize:

Dean says some Republicans don't work for a living and the vast majority of Republicans are white Christians. Both statements are undeniably true, but the media goes nuts and Democrats everywhere disown Dean.

Rove says all liberals are complete pussies who sympathize with the enemy and are intent on endangering American troops. The entire statement is 100% slanderous and egregiously insulting.

How do you expect corporate media to react?

17. Depends
on whether Democrats keep beating the drum for Rove to apologize and/or resign. If Democrats don't stay on this, the media sure as hell won't.

18. Aaron Brown called
Rove's comments 'silly' tonight. He said it was a week of comments like that, with 'Sen Durbin making dumb comments, for which he apologized.

The demands for an apology need to increase and not let up until he can't take it anymore, like the time when those demonstrators went to his house and forced him to finally agree to meet with two of them. Then he swore at them and warned them to leave him alone!!

I think he's a little cowardly wimp and would crumble if he had to deal alone with even the slightest pressure. So, time to go after him and demand he apologize for attacking the American people and, using his logic about antiAmerican rhetoric: 'giving Al Jazeera more ammunition ~ they will use Karl's words to show that America is divided, and therefor weak, encouraging terrorists ~ his words are dangerous and a threat to our national security'. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they did that.

I hope the lesson has been learned that Democrats must never, ever, apologize again for anything they say!! Despite Sen. Durbin's apology, that little cockroach still viciously lied about him last night.

DEMOCRATS!! STOP apologizing ~ they just go after you even more when you do! Check Karl Rove's attack last night on Sen. Durbin!! God, I am so sick of weak leadership!!

20. In order to get ROVE to apologize, Dems should point out
that "Hey, Durbin apologized for HIS comments, now ROVE should do the same!"

Take Durbin's apology and turn it into something useful at least.

They think Durbin's a chump for apologizing.

The only thing they respect is brute political force.

22. Screw an apology.
Call him on his lies. Everyone he says was wrong, was absolutely right.

Remember this gem from George Galloway, and shout it from the rooftops:

THE WAR WAS BASED ON A PACK OF LIES AND WE WERE RIGHT AND YOU WERE WRONG!
