Dean vs. Rove: Corporate Media Spin Cycle
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 11:55 PM by stickdog
Dean says "Some Republicans haven't done an honest day's work in their lives."

A corporate/RW media pundit firestorm ensues.

Dean says of Republicans, "It's pretty much a white Christian party."

An incredible media pundit firestorm ensues with the epic frenzy of a hurricane.

*****

Rove says concerning Durbin, "Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals."

Rove continues, "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

*****

To summarize:

Dean says some Republicans don't work for a living and the vast majority of Republicans are white Christians. Both statements are undeniably true, but the media goes nuts and Democrats everywhere disown Dean.

Rove says all liberals are complete pussies who sympathize with the enemy and are intent on endangering American troops. The entire statement is 100% slanderous and egregiously insulting.

How do you expect corporate media to react?

1. I think they're running out of rope
They know that hanging their success on the success of this administration is beginning to look like a losing proposition. We're going to see more Corporate Media whores doing an about-face and slapping the administration around while it's still reeling from its own stupidity.

4. Corporate Media Spin Cycle
I must agree with Karl Rove on two counts. First, his assertion that Democrats are wusses, I believe is totally accurate. Why have they allowed this regime to continually lie, steal, and kill without anyone shouting out? Are they fearful of losing their jobs, ala Max Clelland, Tom Daschle, Cynthia McKinney, et.al? Or worse, Paul Wellstone comes to mind.If this is the case we need to vote those individuals out of office and put individuals who will perform their job of representing us, the citizens of this great country. It seems Howard Dean is the only Dem willing to speak out.

Second, I believe Rove is correct when he says the Dems wanted therapy for terrorist after 9/11 IF the Dems were suggesting therapy for Rove, Bush, Cheney, and Rice, among others (Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Zakheim, Bolton, et al). Yes, I believe a "Kenneth Starr" type investigation would reveal some interesting if not disturbing things.

Third, if I hear one more Dem apologize about anything before I hear an apology from the Bush handlers about their lies that led the killing and maiming of thousands of people, the illegal invasion of a foreign country, the dismantling of our Constitution, the "disappearance" of over $9 Billion in Iraq, the over $400 Million dollars Dov Zakheim was unable to account for in the Pentagon prior to his resigning.

Karl, please continue to speak out. You are simply indicating the flames are getting closer to your collective asses.

6. And the White House supports Rove 1000000000%
Lesson? Democrats should support every TRUE statement that another Democrat makes.

don't you dare tell the truth about Republicans."

9. GOP controls broadcast media. DSM and this latest dustup PROVES IT.
Those who think the media isn't the reason Bush stays in power are just effin' crazy at this point.

You'd have to be dumb as dirt to think that the media isn't the problem. If we had a real media, the entire country would know the voting machines are controlled by partisan GOP activists.

If we had a real media, the entire country would know the voting machines are controlled by partisan GOP activists,

some of whom have multiple felony convictions for fraud by computer hacking.

10. Remember--The Democrat Is Always Wrong, Always On Trial
The standard, predictable response:

Democratic: 1) A Republican makes an inflammatory remark. 2) Corporate media laughs along, runs to Democrat, and "asks," "How do you defend yourself?," putting the judgment on the Democrat.

Republican: 1) A Democrat makes a truthful criticism of a Republican, or asks why Republican crimes are not being investigated. 2) Media slut stands there stone-cold, and asks, "Are you serious? What proof do you have?" Then launches a slander campaign against the Democrat who dared to speak, putting the judgment on the Democrat.

Republican attacks are treated as true and turned against the Democrat; Democratic exposes or questions are treated as false and turned against the Democrat. Not a lot of variety here.

12. Money talks
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 03:34 PM by corkhead
My response to reality setting in on the whorification of the Corporate media is to stop giving it any of my money. I run a business but no longer advertise in the local paper after they wasted several front pages fawning over the arrival in our town of our own copy of the Arkansas Deathstar, a new Walmart. I have been a subscriber for years and re-up annually, but when it runs out this time, I have decided not to renew my subscription. Lots of runaway bride, American Idol, Michael Jackson, and a regular parade of pathetic press releases disguised as news. Any "real" news is straight off the AP wire and buried in the back pages and thanks to sites like DU, if it is of any interest I have already read it anyway. Maybe when they lose all of their advertisers and subscribers, they will scratch their collective heads and maybe try to find out why.

13. "Arkansas Deathstar?" Good one!
Painfully true, as any Mom and Pop business can attest. Well said.
