Anyone catch Lauer's "expert panel" on the Greatest American?
I was flipping through the channels and happened upon the "Greatest American" for the first time. Lauer had on an "expert" panel to talk about the nominees in addition to a studio audience which was divided in to 4 sections (for each of the four remaining candidates of this joke).

The Panelists? (M)ANN COULTER, DENNIS MILLER, and Randy Jackson from American Idol.

Needless to say, I immediately turned the channel to avoid throwing up.

The final 4 "candidates" ? Abe Lincoln, George Washington, Ronald Reagan, and Martin Luther King Jr. Hmm, which one doesn't fit? I don't know what channel this train wreck was on, but I was shocked it wasn't Faux Newz. Lauer should be ashamed of himself for participating in that crap.

Lauer is a Bush boy golfing buddy. Just another pandering propaganda piece. Up next: The Top 10 American Jingoistic Moments of the Past 25 years....

2. I suspected this "contest" would be a train wreck
when I saw the poll on America On Line. The whole affair was sponsered by the Discovery Channel. Second indication something was wrong was that Lance Armstrong was one of the 20 or so choices of "Greatest Americans." Discovery sponsers his Tour de France team. Lance Armstrong, Benjamin Franklin...hmmm.

4. Didn't Lauer ask Biden for "good news" on Iraq?
I believe I saw a clip in which Lauer asked Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE), who has just returned from Iraq, to tell us what the good news stories from Iraq are. It struck me as a rather inappropriate approach by Lauer, as if he were determined to put the best spin on things. Can you imagine responding to a chemical spill or a triple homicide by asking the local authorities to add a discussion of what went right in the city that day? :eyes:
