This is too funny. I have this image in my head of Big Bird trying to strangle that old thief Lucianne.

Think goodness...I mean if the GOP had actually stood for something, showed some guts, I might have gotten the vapors.
Bush and the Republican congress are in a quest to make their enemies love them.
As we know however it's only making these people bolder.
They are not bringing over anyone. What they are doing is driving several of us away.
Do you think I will work hard or send in money for the 06 elections after seeing this failre?
My party is fighting a limited war (where are some airstrikes agsinst Syrian terrorist support areas near the border), doesn't do anything to control the borders, and is gutless to use it's power.
Now the House, the one GOP stronghold that has been fairly conservative gets its collective butt kicked by Big Bird.
I don't know about you, but as a Republican these days, I am feeling as low as if Kerry had been elected and we had lost part of Congress.

Karl Rove for President? He says what he means and means what he says, unlike most of them.
And they always drag out Big Bird to support PBS, like everything on there is just cute little animal and children's shows- HA! It's nonstop propaganda at night.

This does not demonstrate the enduring political strength of public broadcasting, it demonstrates the lack of backbone on the part of Republicans.

Can't we compromise here.
Broadcast an episode with Big Bird carrying a concealed weapon and preventing a convenience store robbery.
Have another with Bert & Ernie at the rifle range.
It won't be long before liberals will be howling for funding cuts.

The GOP is utterly useless.

You can't really expect a Communist propaganda station to be self-sufficient. They always have to be funded by taxpayers.

Shame on all the house members who voted for this. They are the dregs in the bottom of the beer bottle, the sludge that sinks to the bottom of the sewage lagoon. Their stench is overpowering. May they rot in their own vomit forever.

#2 There are more of us feeling just as you do than most Repubs admit. There are things Bush will be proud of accomplishing someday as he looks back on his Presidency - no doubt about that. However, there are serious things he is doing nothing about that are going to haunt him later on too. Our nation is on a straight course towards losing our sovereignty. It is crystal clear to me now that those in power have every intention of seeing to it that there are no borders with Mexico or Canada. All this without the consent of the American people. It is being done right in front of our noses.

Big Dittos #2. I forsee big losses in store for the GOP and frankly, right now, they deserve it. Remember, ya'll: just send them money and shut-up.
What a change from 1994 - I was so hopeful. It is apparent that I've WASTED 10 years of energy and support - very personal support - sticking my neck out publicly for these clowns, getting hassled and in some cases even losing friends.
Way to go, idiots.

Same old, same old. The GOP deserves to lose in the next congressional elections. They don't even know what they stand for anymore.
I had the pleasure today of telling the latest GOP cold caller "no more money" until the border is controlled. She said she was surprised at how many people are telling her the same thing. If the GOP is surprised now, wait until the elections. A predict a case of the vapors sweeping through the "minority" leadership.

Be careful of what you wish for. It's better to replace a bad Republican with a better one than to ever succomb to defeat. Champions don't cut and run they play hurt and eventually win.

Jumpin' Jalalabad! PBS was renewed?
This means:
a. another series on why America was
wrong in Vietnam.
b. another series on the threat of
"global warming".
c. another series on why the homosexual
life style is "right for America".

I was so hoping to see the end of Lehrer and Shields!
They are as red as Red Tim Russert.
America has a cancer to fight; and its name is Democratic Party.

As if America would not do better without that stupid Big Bird!! Grown men, who cannot do what they need to do, because they are threatened by a big yellow bird.
That terrible deficit; but we cannot do without the Big Bird.
What a disgusting bunch of pansies.

Ah, yes, #13, imagine a border controlled by democrats, and a friend of Ted Kennedy, Durbin and Dean running the war against terrorism....and then wake up screaming and running to the bathroom to hurl!
Reply 19 - Posted by: travis mcgee, 6/24/2005 7:58:52 AM
I'm hurling now, so what the hell is the difference?

After McCain Fiengold, the Republican party is not very important. I don't waste my meager contributions on them. I give to individual candidates and to 527's that represent my views.
Reply 21 - Posted by: slocooker, 6/24/2005 8:42:12 AM
The next time I get a begging letter or phone call from the GOP, I'll tell them to take the money out of my share of the $100M the wimps gave away.
Reply 22 - Posted by: Caprine, 6/24/2005 8:55:36 AM
The corporation was created by Congress in 1967 to shield public broadcasting from political influence. (snip)
Republicans who favored the cuts said federal subsidies provide only about 15 percent of the public broadcasting budget. The rest, they said, comes from private and corporate donors, as well as licensing and royalties from programming.
And therein lies the problem. PBS works only with private and corporate donors who underwrite the liberal programming.
Perhaps the board's choice of Patricia S. Harrison as president and chief executive, might be a positive move; but as these things go, the board hires and the board fires. I predict she'll be gone by 01/01/07.
I'm disgusted with those Republicans who sided with the Dems.

Although we may not be happy with the lack of a backbone in our Republican office holders - before we get all bent out of shape and withhold our support - consider the alternative.
We don't have what we want from our folks - but it's sure a lot better than we would have with Kerry, Gore or either one of the Clinton's.
Our best bet for now is to keep letting the people we put in office know what we think and what we expect them to do. And what we expect them NOT to do.
Must be something in the air in DC - and especially in the Senate chamber - that makes our folks go all wobbly. They are much too much focused on wanting the dims to like them.
Enough pussyfooting around over there. Let's get to it and get something done.
Reply 24 - Posted by: peavine, 6/24/2005 9:26:56 AM
Witholding contributions is the only language both parties understand.
I can not think of a better way of "letting the people we put in office know what we think and what we expect them to do." than not giving them money.
Besides the way the Republican party has been acting lately I can think of a lot more constructive things to do with my money; for instance, flush it down the toilet, or give it to strangers, or perhaps contribute to a cause that I know nothing about. These would be just as satisfying as giving it to the GOP.
Reply 25 - Posted by: votedforbush, 6/24/2005 9:34:34 AM
#2 is correct. Why stay with the Republican party when they want so much to be loved (with my tax dollars).
