I am not sure how many of you subscribe or buy the Rolling Stone but, I subscribe to it and try to read through it as much as possible. They did a blurb in the last Rolling Stone that I thought was excellent and truthfully I could not have said it better myself. It was included in The Briefing written by Tim Dickinson:

Just Say No
Brazil has turned down $40 million in AIDS funding from the Bush Administration, saying the money comes with too many string attached. A provision - sponsored by Sen. Bill Frist and signed by Bush - required foreign recipients of AIDS funding to denounce the "abhorrent" practice of prostitution. But Brazil - widely considered a model in the fight against HIV - has cut AIDS deaths by sixty percent by working with prostitutes and other high-risk groups. "We can't fight HIV with principles that are fundamentalist and Shiite," says Dr Pedro Chequer, director of Brazil's AIDS program. "You can have a prostitute with almost zero risk, and you can have a member of Bush's church with an incredibly high risk. It just depends on whether they use a condom."

I don't think I could have said it better myself. And who does Bill Frist think he is, including a provision of that nature is just truly stupid.

1. It always makes me happy when someone tells Bush to fcuk off.
Since most of the world is doing that on a regular basis now, the newspapers are a kind of anti-depressant for me.

2. Flying Down To Rio...
I love it when other nations throw a pie in the face of Bush and his cronies. We need a few more people with the cojones to do the same thing to him here in the states.

3. There is a lot of truth coming out of South America. People are
finding their voice all over this hemisphere, but many in the U.S. are getting drowned out by the moralist-preaching-war lovers.

Glad to know the morality traders were turned down.

Who told Frist he could make that demand anyway?

5. I think I'm going to move to Brazil.
The women are unbelievable. The government is a super open source advocate.

I would be in heaven.

6. Yeah... I've read other stuff..Linux
I read on MSN, cause my hotmail is in Portuguese, that Bush is one of 10 guys "you would never date" yeah along with Benedict the 16th...

ON a philosophical note, Brasil is going in a very different direction .... one prime example is President Lula's plan is to urge its massive bureaucracy to use free software like Linux on its computer systems in a cost-cutting move that could cost Microsoft <MSFT.O> millions of dollars in lost revenue.

http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2003/11/23/brazils_government_snuggles_up_to_linux/

You guessed it.... Lula is definitely left-wing, he isn't about to support foreign corporations with his tax dollars... This is so FOREIGN to Bush, he can't even wrap his mind around it.

9. Bottom line is...
Bottom line is... Brazil is the breadbasket and the world's largest feeding machine in more than a dozen commodities. Oil for your fucking SUV's is the least of all worries. Water. Food. Without Monsanto. Fuck em'.

Lula has given the "fuck you" middle finger not unlike Chavez. Fuck the Pan-American trade bullshit - people are too smart now - thanks to the Internet.

10. Prostitution is legal in Brazil, but pimping is illegal
Makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

Brazil is interested in cutting the rates of AIDS.

Bush* is interested in condemning people whose lifestyles he doesn't approve of and is NOT interested in reducing AIDS rates
