Flag Amendment. Designed to protect Republicans??
The verbage reads: Congress shall have the power to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States.

I guess wind damaged flags on cars are immune. I guess weathered and tattered and ripped flags hanging limply in front of trailor homes occupied by bush supporters don't count. I guess if you exercise a constititonal freedom and are not a fake patriot and burn the flag because you object to something our government has done, that will be considered unamerican. I spent 24 years in uniform so you could exercise that right. Republicans and conservatives don't care about America and they sure as hell don't care about the flag, unless it can be used for political expediency.

1. It's designed, like everything from these thugs, to gin up a fight.
When the American people are divided, they win. When we're united, Dems win.

3. Absolutely
There's a link on another thread to a Washington Post article saying that the Republicans are cutting benefits to veterans. They are voting down money the Dems want to spend to help those disabled in other wars.

So this flag thing is a way to keep veterans from knowing what low down, dirty things they are doing to their benefits.

8. Or how about
someone wearing the colors on a windbreaker? That's not displaying the flag correctly. Or the Elks club flying a tattered flag above their building?

10. Folks, I have a comment, and a link.
After seeing this link, I began to think that the next logical step down the path of anti-flag burning legislature, could be anti-flag drawing. Or anti-flag talking. Or anti-flag anything. Ok, I've gone a bit far there.
But take a look at what Korean teachers are having their kids do. These are posted on a subway wall. The basic idea is "fuck Japan".

I hate it when stores put the American flag on their bags... and then you carry out your trash in it... Corporatist assholes.

13. Definitely to protect the Repubs...
...since they've constantly wrapped themselves in the flag, they figure it's less likely that the pitchfork-wielding mob will set the torch to their sorry asses.
