14. How can we keep it an issue?
If Joe L says it's not true...

Kerry dissed Clark, rather than Bush.

32. Clark can make it an issue -no one else.
Dean could not call B*** a deserter.
Even Kerry can't because of his Vietnam protests...

But Clark -he can do it. And I think he means to. He's hinting, hinting, hinting and he won't let it go. Listen, can you imagine the visceral contempt that a real soldier must feel for a chickenhawk like B**??

Clark (and Kerry) have seen men die horrible deaths. One thought of B*** swilling down beers in Alabama must send them into a rage!

7. Finally!!
Finally!

At Last!

If the other Dems had done the same, we'd have an issue.

But Clark had to be the sacrificial lamb.

9. Bush was AWOL
and when one is AWOL in wartime, it is called desertion.

Ironic that Kerry has refused to call his fellow Bonesman a deserter or even AWOL.

10. OMG!!! I am in shock!
Terry just regained my respect!

"You gotta show up before you can be called a 'deserter'"

I about fell out of my chair! You could tell it shocked the hell out of Wolf too!

11. The Michael Moore deserter
question from Jennings in the debate probably has hurt Wes Clark somewhat but it is pretty good for the dems since it has put this buried issue back onto the media front-burner. :-)

I applaud Wes Clark for not sinking it by smacking down Moore!

George Bush could stop this nonsense. All he has to do is tell the truth about it instead of having "spokesmen" try to cover for hs sorry ass... :)

15. I guess Terry decided Begala had done enough
of the real prep work on this and it was safe for him to utter the AWOL charge finally.

This proves that the Clark campaign has done lots of good for the party--as has Dean's. We are less afraid of saying the truth now, even as Wolf gets scared and Gillespie has a snit.

28. That's because Kerry will say anything if it benefits him...
He voted for the Iraq Invasion because is was politically expedient at the time. Now, he's back-tracking because it's politically expedient.

Who needs another double-talking politician in Washington?

It's time for "real" change!

Loved the look of sheer desperation on Gillespie's face as he had to try to defend Bush's "honorable service" and quickly change the subject.

34. so will the RNC escalate this?
Will they issue a demand for McAuliffe to take it back? Call it "hate speech?"

Or will they cut their losses, try to move on, even if it makes them look like they're admitting Bush went AWOL?

35. Democrats should let the media and hte Repubs continue to bring it up
That means they are on the defensive. The Democrats should not mention the issue until it is brought up - then they should respond just like Clark and McAuliffe did. It's driving them crazy! :)
