Rick Santorum: Rove Doesn't Speak For Me.
RICK SANTORUM: ROVE DOESN'T SPEAK FOR ME. This afternoon, Tapped called the offices of every Republican senator and asked their press staff the following: “Does Karl Rove speak for Senator X in his recent comments on liberals and September 11?”

Several offices had no comment. Many transferred us into voicemail boxes, and we plan to call them back on Monday if they don’t respond. But we got two offices to react. While Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s staff told us she agrees with Rove’s remarks, Rick Santorum's communications director, Robert Traynham, suggested that the Pennsylvanian had a different reaction. He told me: “Karl Rove speaks for himself. He doesn’t speak for the senator. On 9-11, there was no such thing as a Republican or a Democrat, and that’s what the senator believes.”

1. Damn, I hate giving Santorum credit when it's due
Thank you, Senator Santorum. This is the first and probably the last time I will say that.

3. Well, there's a reason Kerry can stomach the man
to work with him on occasion.

Yeah, Rick gets a cookie. But just the one for now.

5. He only feels this way during an election year when he's polling BADLY
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 06:09 PM by ClarkUSA
He's on video comparing the Democratic Party to Nazis, so how's that again,
Rick?

Blue-state PA will be saying buh-bye to you next year, so grovel a little more please and say your prayers with fellow Opus Dei member Bob Novak while you still can.

8. A scene from the movie "Titanic"
As the people are walking down the aisle preparing to exit the ship, the rats are running ahead of them.

Are the Republican rats abandoning the ship?

10. Santorum deserves no credit
He's just posturing because he's in trouble in the polls and he needs to distance himself from Rove's absurd comments.

Fuck you, Santorum.

11. Hutchison....
was just on Hardball, mouthing off. I had to turn off the sound, she was making me sick. Texas Republicans have to be the most vile humans on the planet. Is there something in the water down there? Are these assholes bred on special farms in Texas or something? That all of these scumbags could come from one state is mindbogglingly.

Now I know hell is freezing over!
First I agree with Scalia and Thomas on an issue and now Santorum says Rove doesn't speak for him? This is getting crazy.

he learned a lesson, at least for this election cycle, hopefully his last.

16. Sorry, Rick: Rove is speaking for Bush
Rove's speech, for which you can find the full text appended to this post, was sent out to the White House press office distribution list. That means it was vetted and approved by the White House and represents their official views. If Santorum doesn't want to be associated with Rove's remarks, he needs to leave the Republican party or leave office (preferably both).

Neither Tapped nor anyone else should let "He's not speaking for me" slide, no matter who it comes from. This speech came out of the White House and if anyone wants to disavow it, they need to disavow the whole crew including the president. Don't let these weasels off the hook.

I'll take him at his word on this matter and I'll try not to let a little thing like a 2006 reelection run cloud my judgment. At least for the moment.

an attachment my experiences in Lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001. I call it the "I Was There, Mutherfucker" attachment. Sent the same to Spector and uber-shitbird John Peterson. Pennsylvanian by law, New Yorker by the Grace of the Fucking Westside Irish, Bitch.

25. *lol* ~ good for you!
I'm shocked but, credit where it's due. I just asked in another thread if any Republicans had emulated their Dem. colleagues who helped do Durbin in when they said 'Sen. Durbin doesn't speak for me'!

I didn't think one Repub. would say that about Rove. Thank you Sen. Santorum! Maybe it will start a trend.

Pataki made a huge mistake. He's running in 2006 and no Republican can win in NY without Democrats crossing over. Dems will remember that he joined Karl Rove in calling them all terrorist appeasers on election day! 'bye! 'bye! Pataki and good riddance!

Karl may have done us a favor ~ to win, Repubs need some Dems to vote for them. We should save his statement and use it in 2006 for potential swing voters, so they know what that in the eyes of Repubs, they are wimps who sympathize with terrorists.

I'm a good girl, though; I give credit where it's due.

Well done, Senator. I might almost feel a little bad when you lose your seat next November.
