Chimpy for 2008?

Okay, please tell me it's old news. It's from February actually, but I haven't caught any mention of it before.

What it says:

"Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution. (Introduced in House)

(snip)

`The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is repealed.'"

Now, this will never get the required majority, right? Unless there's a sudden new reason for the country to "rally around" the "president".

5. If that's true

If that's true then the country is too unstable to have * claim permanent ruler ship. Doing so would enrage many in his own base, they know this and the chances that this would happen are an order of magnitude less likely than this amendment would actually be in place by '8.

A side question. If this amendment did pass, would it actually allow * to run again or would he be under the rules that were in place when he first came into office?

on the wording of the amendment. Amendment 22 explicitly says it did not apply to the president serving at the time it was passed.

These types of crazy amendments are floated every session of Congress, I think. No reason to worry.

Besides, Bush's second term is sucking enough. Why go for a third?

Check out the post by "HotCarl", half-way down the page. Hard to tell how old this poster is - maybe he's twelve or so. But if he's older and voting, you have your reason right there. A major repuke alert, and it begins thus:

"Oh my gosh, it would be awesome if dubya could be president for a third term, I'd vote for him as long as he'd be willing to lead us."
