1. I doubt it

I know they put a song on a "Rock Against Bush" CD, so their politics are probably straight, but the Foo Fighters pretty much keep it out of their music.

I had heard the title of the album may have been a dedication to Kurt Cobain.

3. Yes it is
I remember reading an article saying that they were inspired being out on the campaign trail for Kerry and getting younger peeps to turn out and vote. Don't know where it is, but I remember reading it from the Washington Post.

4. The last Rolling Stone issue implied it.
It was mentioned in the review of the album.

5. I don't know
They’re baaack! Fresh off getting their hearts wrecked by last year’s presidential election results, Dave Grohl and his fellow John Kerry-supporting comrades chase overtime pay with a gallant double disc, half rock and half acoustic, called In Your Honor. Whether the title itself is a tip of the hat to Kerry or his fallen campaign is anyone’s guess. Suffice to say, however, if the Massachusetts Senator was to politics what the Foo Fighters are to rock n’ roll, he would have carried Ohio and Florida easily and been residing on Pennsylvania Avenue today.

7. Your implying what? That Kerry was no politician?
In a way that is a compliment. If your implying he lost due to his own faults, I would have to disagree with you.Kerry's campaign wasn't perfect, but neither was Bush's. Kerry represented more than just salesmanship. He was a candidate with honor, intelligence and integrity. He offered a different kind of style, one that was truly presidential. The republican scare tactics and the Iraq war are what caused his loss. Believe it or not people actually felt it was necessary to stick with Bush since it was his war.Oh, and did you happen to read about the new DNC report on the election process in Ohio. A quarter of all potential Kerry voters were disenfranchised and unable to vote, these disenfranchised voters included, minorities and young voters.

9. Nope. What "lost it" for Kerry was the VOTING MACHINES
and a whole bunch of corrupt politicians in Ohio.

Kerry was elected President of the United States in 2004. But the bush mafia took it away, just like the mafia and supremes took it away from Gore in 2000. (The bush mafia includes the voting machine vendors.)

12. I'm not implying anything!
Any implications are from the author of the review I excerpted and linked to. Just trying to help. sheesh.

6. Yes, It's true, I read 2 reviews that mentioned the dedication to Kerry.
It's late, and I'm tired so I can't recall exactly where I read them. Maybe someone else can find a link. I went out and purchased the CD after reading about this though. I'm more of a Bruce Springsteen fan, but I have to tell you the first track,"In Your Honor" is really powerful. Oh, and your right, the cover does look very presidential.

8. David Grohl: “In Your Honor” a Tribute to John Kerry
David Grohl of the Foo Fighters: “In Your Honor” a Tribute to John Kerry
25 June 2005

There’s been bits and pieces in the news the past few weeks about the Foo Fighters new album being a tribute to John Kerry.

Spin Magazine has a recent interview with David Grohl, the front man for the Foo Fighters that includes a little Q&A about the campaign, the election and how Grohl was inspired by his experiences on the campaign trail.

Excerpt from Q & A: Dave Grohl
By: Andrew Beaujon
June 24, 2005

I've read that the title of your new album is a tribute to John Kerry.
A few of the songs were written when I came home from the campaign trail. Every day, before he got up to speak, I'd go play acoustic music. And the audiences weren't Foo Fighters audiences. The front row was World War II veterans and teacher's unions and blue-collar workers. I came back from that so inspired by the people and the real emotion and the feeling of a small community all coming together for an honorable reason. That's where the title came from.

Were you crushed after the election?
Fuck, yes.
