Seen This Yet? "I Have A Plan To Destroy America" R.Lamm
"I Have A Plan To Destroy America" R.Lamm

(snip)
Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'"

Origins: Richard D. Lamm was a Democrat who served as governor of Colorado for twelve years from 1975 to 1987. Of the above-quoted third person account regarding his speech on the perils of multiculturalism, he told us in mid-June 2005:

Yes, it is a speech I gave a year and a half ago in Washington D.C. It was a 5 minute speech, and I am amazed and gratified it has received so much coverage.

He submitted a "revised version" to Snopes

1. Yeah, Rome lasted only eight centuries after it became bilingual.
There's not much point in reading further, once you come across a piece of nonsense like this: "History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures."

:wtf:

Let's see. Rome conquered the Greek kingdoms in the second and third century BCE. From that time forward, Greek was the major language in the Eastern half of the Roman empire, and was a requisite language for all educted Romans. Though the Republic fell a couple of centuries later, Rome as a political entity continued for another eight centuries in the west, and a millenium and a half in the east. Yeah, that bilingualism really did it in.

Switzerland isn't coming apart at the seems, despite the fact that no one there speaks Swiss. Belgium is doing just fine as a bilingual nation.

So. Lamm is an ignoramus, who spreads bigoted swill. There's really not much more to say on the subject.

:hippie:

2. I have a plan for destroying America too.
It involves putting a monkey in the Oval Office, running record deficits year after year, invading and occupying a foreign country so we destroy our own armed forces as well as our allegiences.
