As well as being the worst president ever, Bush will go down in history as
the most HATED president in history by a wide margin. It won't even be close between him and whoever is in 2nd or 3rd place. Bush has taken it to a new level previously thought impossible. Is it even arguable?

Not only will he go down as the most hated president here at home, but he'll also go down as the most hated American president EVER by people from across the planet Earth. I think they even hate him on Mars.

Bush is one revolting f**ker who commands ZERO respect.

Is there any other person in history, besides Hitler, who's hated by people on a global scale more than George W Bush is? If there is, please inform me!

(*For those who don't like using the word "hate", feel free to substitute the word "despised.")

17. Nixon
A lot of people hated Nixon like they hate Bush. But it was a different sort of hate -- people knew Nixon was smart, just shifty, and Watergate confirmed their worst suspicions. Even then, Nixon-haters figured Tricky Dick could intelligently run foreign policy (though one might argue with his actions in Vietnam).

With Bush there is an element of contempt, like he's not up to the job and has made a royal mess of everything. Plus a lot of people, myself included, think he was not entitled to the office in 2000.

But history will judge him on one thing: If, in five years or so, Iraq is a stable, democratic country and terrorism against the US is lessened, he will be considered to be a success. If Iraq slides back into a Saddam-style dictatorship or becomes a theocracy with an anti-American bent, friendly to Islamic jihadists, he'll be considered a failure.

For me, it's like a long nightmare that began in Florida in 2000 and has yet to end.

7. I really think that some of those dictators had some intelligence.
Shrubbish is an idiot and a fool. He is also a proxy president. It appears that the country is being ruled by corporate theo-con cronies with the shrubbish smirk of approval.

I am sure that when it hits the fan, the corporate theo-cons will let him hang in the wind like the idiot he is, while they carry on ruling and bleeding the country.

it would still be fun to see shrub hung out to dry.

10. Oh yes,,, seeing shrubby twisting in the wind would be lovely.
Don't get me wrong,,,, its just that in this case, cutting of the head (shrubbish) would probably consolidate power for the corporate theocons.

4. Ha! I just commented to my wife yesterday (while scanning the news) that..
I don't think I've despised anyone so completely in my entire life (47 years).

The mere sound of his voice makes me want to kick the dog... of course I would not "kick the dog"... even if we had one.

But Bush will be pretty much universally hated throughout the world. History will not be kind.

He'll definitely go down in history as one of the worst, most disingenuous presidents ever. He'll also go down in history as one of the most hated men on the planet.

14. Hate is a word that shoudn't be used lightly.
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 02:55 PM by abernste
Not because I have some BS moral opposition to it, but because it would lose its meaning if overused.

That said, it's PERFECTLY appropriate to use about Bush. He's reaped irreparable damage on our nation and our planet, causing untold amounts of death and misery. I HATE that MFer with everything I've got.

16. I hate myself for saying this, but I loathe the man.
i have always tried to get along with those I don't agree with, and many republicans I don't agree with when it comes to opinions on issues, and I wasn't happy with Regan and Bush 1, but this Bush, I just can't take. It bothers me that we are expected to respect our President, and I can not muster up any respect at all for this one. I can't get past how the American people have lowered their standards and have allowed this mediocre- at best- man to be our President and lead us.

18. This call was made 5 years ago
I recall seeing Gore Vidal on TV at the beginning of 2000 prophesizing that
Bush would go down as "the most unpopular president in our history."

Even without 9/11 he knew Bush was going to get us into a war somewhere, ruin the economy,
give away the country's resources, hand massive tax breaks to his rich "base"
and generally fuck us over(the other 99% of Americans)
and of course the rest of the world as well.

I wish he hadn't been right, but Vidal nailed it like a patrician Miss Cleo.

19. Nope
Sorry, even if his approval ratings fall further, he's still going to have at least 40% of the country - fanatical followers of the Bush-cult - in total awe of him.

He really is becoming a cult figure. Yes, he will be HATED by at least 55% of the country, but I promise you that 40% of the country is never going to abandon this man no matter what.

20. It is arguable. Lincoln was hated and vilified mercilessly
by an awful lot of people throughout his presidential career, and I'm not talking about white Southerners. Plenty of Northerners, including a goodly number of his fellow Republicans, had a pretty poor opinion of him.

The criticism Lincoln suffered in the news media of his day was far more bitter and damnatory than anything that is said about Bush anywhere in America today outside of liberal forums.

What does this prove? Only that you should never expect justice to be done to anyone's reputation, for good or ill.

21. I'm with you there
most backwards and unenlightened. When history looks back with prespective we are going to be shocked at the hatchet job * has done to the constitution, health, education, welfare, favors to the rich and corporations, faith based welfare, civil rights, human rights, our image abroad, the Geneva Convention, this horrible war, 9/11, the election fraud, this taking private land thing, this social security money grab proposal, bankrupting our economy, and then not letting the little people out from under unfair debt burdens, the looting of those antiquities from Iraq's museums, the legacy of the wounded, crippled head injured, psychiatric cases soldiers whose lives he has destroyed, he's gonna get his in the history books. His religious out-look will seen so unintelligent and his hatred of science renowned as the worst thing to ever happen to the free world.
