Cheney's Colorado "visit" to "evaluate an old football injury to his knee"
SORRY for anyone who was thinking "crashcart."

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050625/ap_on_go_pr_wh/cheney_doctor_visit_1

VAIL, Colo. - Vice President Dick Cheney visited a renowned orthopedist Friday while in town for a forum held by a conservative think tank, his spokeswoman said.

Cheney met with Dr. Richard Steadman to evaluate an old football injury to his knee, Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said.

Steadman focuses primarily on sports medicine, and his Steadman Hawkins Clinic has treated a number of famous athletes. In 2003, Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant was in Vail for knee surgery at the clinic when he was accused of raping a hotel worker.

Cheney was scheduled to attend the American Enterprise Institute World Forum, which was started in 1982 by former President Gerald Ford.

2. Yes, it's the same "visit."
Last night, everyone was talking about his "mysterious visit to the hospital."

Today, by way of explanation, we get this.

4. What, he last played football in when, 1948?
OMG, Do ya think the altitude might have f***ed with his almost non existent cardio vascular system, and he needed some intensive medical intervention?

Naw, not the "man's man" football player.

What a crock!!! MKj

6. Doubt that. Seems Uncle Dick has spent a lot of time in Colorado.
Rumor is that his "undisclosed location" might even be the mysterious underground of Denver International Airport.

7. What's up with the DIA conspiracy stuff? I live in the Denver metro area
and have used DIA many times without experiencing the bizarre physical symptoms I've heard attributed to DIA.

I visited a website that came up with all these theories that didn't sound anything like the airport I know.

What am I missing? MKJ

11. It all started with the bizarre, pro-neo-Nazi murals that were...
installed a few years ago, much to the horror of most of the people that passed through there. Many of those murals have since been painted over.

Here's an interesting website that speaks to the controversies surrounding DIA:

:wow:

I've been through that airport dozens of times and never noticed anything...I bet I look around a little more closely next time, eh?

Is Cheney Alright?

I just landed at Vail airport, right next to the Vice President’s Gulfstream jet (actually, there were two Vice Presidential planes, not one... how much of an entourage does one VP need?). He’s here to speak at the World Forum at Beaver Creek, sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute, and held, of course, behind closed doors. The guy sent to pick me up by the Vail Valley Institute (where I’m speaking) told me that he had seen the VP’s motorcade speed towards the local hospital. Being an intrepid HuffPost reporter, I asked him to take me straight there. Upon our arrival, we encountered a high level of security -- and a lot of zipped lips: “We cannot tell you anything,” “No comment,” “That information is not available...” But one hospital staffer, obviously not schooled in the secretive ways of Cheney, let it slip: “He’s no longer here”. And since you cannot “no longer” be someplace you’ve never been, we can deduce -- though not confirm -- that Cheney did, in fact, pay a visit to the local hospital. The reason? Over to you AP...

UPDATE: Cheney’s Health: What is the White House Hiding?

VAIL -- Why is the White House still insisting that the only health issue Vice President Cheney dealt with today is an old football injury to his knee, visiting renowned orthopedist Dr. Richard Steadman? At the Vail Valley Institute dinner tonight, I kept asking what those in the know here knew. Little by little, here is the story I pieced together: After the Secret Service secured the Vail Valley Medical Center, including the parking lot, the Vice President arrived under his own power and checked in at the orthopedic center under the name “Dr. Hoffman”. He was immediately whisked to the adjacent cardiac unit, suffering from what was described to me as “an angina attack”. The security was so high that a Secret Service agent wouldn’t let an ER nurse out of the bathroom that she had gone into just before the Veep arrived. “Get back in there,” the agent told her. Confounded, she called her husband on her cell phone, telling him “something big” was going on. And indeed it was… but you wouldn’t know it from the White House. It appears that not only doesn’t the public deserve to know what is really going on in Iraq (“last throes”?) we don’t deserve to know what is going on with our Vice President’s health.

10. according to an old Time article...
...he did play high school football. And look at this bit of trivia;

In high school, future-Mrs. Cheney, Lynne
Vincent was a state-champion baton twirler.
In her routines, she would set both ends of a baton on fire and
throw it in the air while her boyfriend (Dick Cheney) stood off to the
side holding a coffee can filled with water. When Lynne was finished,
she would pass her flaming baton to Cheney, who, while the audience
applauded and Lynne curtsied, would quietly douse the fires
by sticking each end of the baton in the coffee can.

18. It's called a fire baton.
We had one in my high school. The Drum Majorette did a solo with one every year at a night football game. The fire is from an alcohol flame, which is relatively cool as these things go, but there was a costume made from fire retardant fabric that each of them had to wear.
I'm having as hard a time seeing Lynn Cheney in that costume as I'm having seeing Dick in a football uniform.

On the angina front, this could mean that Dick has unstable angina. It would be even more likely if the attack came late in the day. He's either clogged up or has heart failure. As he gets sicker, the angina attacks will become more and more frequent and he'll be in the hospital ER 3 or 4 nights a week. You'll also see him with an oxygen tank (or he will have one in his office and home). This guy might not make it to 2009. How do I know? I watched my Dad suffer with this for several years.

12. Not some feeble loser heart problem, it's a big, manly football injury
I'm sure it was caused by his having to wear an inordinately large cup for his legendary mighty penis. Nope, he's not an old goat with a doddering ticker caused by too many years of red meat, greasy foods and hard likker, nope, it's a real masculine injury exacerbated by his confident swagger.

Good thing it's not hemorrhoids; they'd have to remove his entire body.

13. Dude's cardiac problems are well known. I mean, he had an automatic
defibrillator implanted during the first term for chrissakes.

People whose hearts are bad eough to warrant that generally don't have a super long life expectancy.

This probably won't happen until after the 2006 midterm election, than we will start hearing of his charred black heart just won't allow him to continue his vice presidency ..so what happens. Bushy gets to choose someone for temporary vice pres, and there you have it instant ready made Repub Presidential Candidate for 2008. Going to happen folks..

21. The Front Page Of Saturday's Denver Post
as told to me by a friend who lives there said Cheney went to see the surgeon because of his knee but that something happened during the exam that had the surgeon sending him to the cardiac unit of a Denver Hospital where he had been for 3 days when the story came out. No mention in the media anywhere, nothing on the Sunday morning shows
