The key to the flag (burning) issue is this: |
|
Republicans want to protect the flag . . .
while Democrats and liberals want to protect what the flag STANDS FOR.
period.

2. My argument has always been |
|
to list the countries that ban flag burning. I need to look it up again, but China and Iran are on that list. No western countries are.

3. It's telling, too, that military inductees swear allegiance. . . |
|
to the Constitution, not the flag.

the"Culture of Corruption" makes a strong description of the instigators of disruption. I am persuaded that an unhealthy amount of flag worship has continued to consume the rabid opposition. Graven images and all that, these diseased brained turkeys are constitutionally incapable of self - analysis and they are again offending even their own standards of hypocrisy.

6. It's the typical confusion |
|
between the symbol and what it stands for. People who are unable to understand metaphors, (i.e. concrete thinkers) are unable to comprehend that the flag stands for something, that the flag itself isn't sacred, it's the concept behind it.

7. Why don't they feel as passionate about the burning of a cross? |
|
They are always either trying to out-moral everybody else or prove that their patriotism is more legitimate. These are sure signs that they have little of either.

8. Predictable ploy for GOP |
|
Any time the GOP appears to be in some form of political hot water, they trot out their tried and true, red meat issues to distract from the controversy of the day. AWOL's poll numbers are in the tank; Iraq is a total quagmire; the DSM's are starting to gain traction; and the prisoner abuse scandals and Gitmo torture is beginning to surface. To distract from these important scandals, the GOP brings up the flag burning amendment or banning homosexual marriage amendment. It seems to work because AWOL is still in office, which makes me lose a little more faith each day in our system of government.
