attn: SOUTHERNERS planning on riding the PEACE TRAIN to DC in Sept
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 06:15 PM by funkybutt
*THE DEPARTURE DATE HAS BEEN MOVED UP DUE TO CONCERN ABOUT AMTRAK'S CHRONIC DELAYS. WE WILL NOW BE LEAVING NEW ORLEANS ON THURSDAY INSTEAD OF FRIDAY*

Louisiana Activist Network (you may remember us from the Jazz Funeral for Democracy) is organizing a PEACE TRAIN from New Orleans to Washington,DC, picking up activist groups across the South on our way to represent the solid antiwar majority on the government's streets on September 24, 2005. We can fill a train if we lash things together properly. Southerners who wish to get in on this gig should start talking to us here --> http://www.newdemocracyrising.com/messageboard.asp

ALL ABOARD!!!

This could be an incredible life experience. Please get a group together and join us. One way tickets from New Orleans just over $100.
Here's a link to the Amtrak schedule (select "Crescent" as the route ---> http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak%2FSchedules_Page&_searchType=destinationTime&xwdf_cmsorigin=sessionWorkflow%2FproductWorkflow%5B%40product%3D%27Rail%27%5D%2FtravelSelection%2FjourneySelection%5B1%5D%2FdepartLocation%2Fsearch&wdf_cmsorigin=New+Orleans%2C+LA+%28NOL%29&xwdf_cmsdestination=sessionWorkflow%2FproductWorkflow%5B%40product%3D%27Rail%27%5D%2FtravelSelection%2FjourneySelection%5B1%5D%2FarriveLocation%2Fsearch&wdf_cmsdestination=Washington+-+Union+Station%2C+DC+%28WAS%29&xwdf_monthyear1=sessionWorkflow%2FproductWorkflow%5B%40product%3D%27Rail%27%5D%2FtripRequirements%2FjourneyRequirements%5B1%5D%2FdepartDate.monthyear&wdf_monthyear1=2005-09&xwdf_day1=sessionWorkflow%2FproductWorkflow%5B%40product%3D%27Rail%27%5D%2FtripRequirements%2FjourneyRequirements%5B1%5D%2FdepartDate.day&wdf_day1=22&xwdf_timeofday1=sessionWorkflow%2FproductWorkflow%5B%40product%3D%27Rail%27%5D%2FtripRequirements%2FjourneyRequirements%5B1%5D%2FdepartDate.hourmin&wdf_timeofday1=07%3A00&_handler%3Damtrak.presentation.handler.request.rail.AmtrakCMSRailSchedulesSearchRequestHandler%2F_xpath%3DsessionWorkflow%2FproductWorkflow%5B%40product%3D%27Rail%27%5D.x=35&_handler%3Damtrak.presentation.handler.request.rail.AmtrakCMSRailSchedulesSearchRequestHandler%2F_xpath%3DsessionWorkflow%2FproductWorkflow%5B%40product%3D%27Rail%27%5D.y=9

1. Thank you! All of ya!
Should have one from California, too, and picking up people along the way..

It will be "an incredible life experience".

I had one on Feb 15, 2003 when "THE WORLD SAYS NO TO WAR!"

2. I believe some California groups are discussing it
I think I saw a post a few days ago about a California train

at www.newdemocracyrising.com/messageboard.asp

We'll be on this train...but we welcome other groups to use the idea and set up their own PEACE TRAIN>

You could also fly to one of the locations on the route.

7. We got a hotel for $80 on Priceline
we selected 2 star within the downtown area. Our place is a Holiday Inn in downtown. Within blocks of the white house. I think early booking makes a big difference.

If you check on www.newdemocracyrising.com there is a list of hotels in the message board. But I recommend Priceline at this time b/c we saved over $60/night.

10. Please buy your tickets as soon as possible
We're trying to book the majority of the train with activists. The sooner you get your tickets, the better.

It's not very expensive, and they are refundable.

12. right now we're trying to spread the word through message boards
and email. We need people to begin buying their tickets ASAP and confirm your participation on www.newdemocracyrising.com/messageboard.asp

Once we know how many people will be joining us on the train, hopefully that will encourage some media interest.

You have some ideas on this?
