Saudis and Citigroup and Bankruptcy bill ...in "Farenheit 9-11" MM said
that the Saudi's were primary investors in Citigroup and their subholdings which are major credit cards ... I've watched this move 4 times before tonight and never made the connection between the bankruptcy bill and Citigroup and the Saudis until I watched it for the 5th time and that statement jumped out at me!! JEEZUS!! When will the duping of America stop???

2. I think NVMojo means:
The bankruptcy bill is a boon to the credit card companies, including the ones owned by Citigroup, and the CC company profits also reaches the Saudis, who will fund more terrorism with it, and the WH will look away because of the Saudis' business partners.

6. Unfortunately my rep, a Dem, voted for the damn thing
My only fear is that we'd get a Repug in his place if this was used against him. It would be nice to have a real Democrat run against him, but the Democratic party in KS seems to think we need DINOs to placate the neuvo-riche in places like Johnson County (Dennis Moore has part of Douglas County and all of JoCo in his district).

The repug who ran against him last time was a real wingnut. It's like holding your nose while you fill in those little circles...

Oligopoly brief: Citigroup

Started as City Bank of New York in 1812, Citigroup has grown to be the #1 financial services company in the world, with operations in over 100 countries, making it the most global bank of all.

Commercial banking is still at the core of the company, and its Citibank division has over 3,000 US branches, and over 1,500 international branches. But the company is one of the top players in stockbroking, insurance, mortgages, asset management, commercial and consumer lending, investment banking, private banking, and credit cards.

Citigroup's rise is the result of a long and incredibly complex history of mergers and acquisitions. The four key components of the company are Citibank itself, Commercial Credit, Travelers Insurance, and Solomon Smith Barney, the stockbroker and investment banker.

<>Citibank grew from being the biggest NY bank to being the largest bank holding company in the US (with holdings over a trillion dollars) when it purchased a number of bank holding companies across the country in the 1980s.
