Durbin's Comment
I had been meaning to make this comment since I first heard of Rove's comments on liberals. As you know Rove claimed that Durbin's comment was being talked about on Al Jazeera. My first thought on this issue was well what about Ann Coulter's comments right after 9/11. There is actuall proof that Coulter's comments were plastered on Arab websites all arcoss the Middle East. I contend that if Durbin's comments were used by Al Jazeera or any other Arab website they may have done a good thing in that some people in the Middle East would have thought that not all American want to invade their countries and they may have felt that an American political leader was apologizing for the wrong things that happened a Guantanomo Bay, or that he was trying to reach out to them.

1. CNN's report said Durbin's comment had only MINIMAL coverage Al-Jazeera.
After Durbin's apology CNN (believe it or not) had a reporter who researched Al-Jazeera for the comment and said he found only ONE mention of the comment at all - and it was from AP.

2. And why does the administration keep condemning Al Jazerra, anyways?
And, I might add, why does the Bush administration keep condemning Al Jazeera anyways? Because they refuse to be manipulated by them in to spinning things to their favour? Because they refused to blackout the casualities that were caused by US bombs?

Perhaps they might want to think that, hey, maybe it's our policies that are causing the rest of the world to hate us and not what is broadcast on Al Jazerra, hmm?

God, their arrogance astounds me!

You're right, though, many of the conservatives have said a lot more damning things that have inflamed the Arab world then Senator Durbin (who was only trying to bring attention to this so that we can change our policy, gasp).
