"Offensive" wars are seldom successful.... |
|
Invasions or offensive attacks by any nation are usually defeated. From Germany in WWI and WWII to the Soviet Union in Afghanistan to Saddam Hussein invading Iraq to LBJ invading Vietnam to Bush invading Iraq, offensive attacks by nations are doomed to defeat and failure. It is naive to think this invasion of Iraq will be any different. People that are invaded and are defending their homes, families, and countries from foreign invaders are at a advantage. They have more at stake. Iraq is doomed to failure.

along with the rest of the gungs-and-gulags gang.
All depends on how you define success.

3. Has there *ever* been a local insurgency that lost to an invader? |
|
I heard some historian on the radio say that insurgencies always win - home-court advantage, no long supply line, local support, etc.
