We must go along to get along with the Republicans (whimper!)

But we cannot fight back, we must play along to get along! (whimper!)

Yeah. That was sarcasm!

I have been away from DU because I am really, really angry with certain members of the Democratic Party. I am angry because of the complacency of certain Democrats and this insistance on being spineless.

I was very angry with Senator Joe Biden (Does he REALLY think he is going to get the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination???) and former Senator John Edwards for their criticism of Howard Dean. I am also angry with Bill Richardson, Nancy Pelosi, and Mark Warner who left Gov. Dean hanging in regards to his attacks on the Republicans. I am very, very disappointed in Senators Harry Reid and Dick Durbin for having their tails between their legs and apologizing for their attacks on the Neocons. What is really preplexing is that Senator Durbin did not have to apologize as he did not say those things he has been accused of saying.

What also been angering me is the fact that only a few Democratic leaders seem willing to take on the Bushites in the issue of the memo from Downing Street in London over the intention to invade Iraq. Where in the hell is the outrage? I am also growing impatient with the fact that certain Democratic leaders are still using the same old "Republican Lite" playbook against the Neocons. When are you out there who support this stuff going to realize you cannot win or compromise with the Neocons? Wake up!

Thank the Creator that Howard Dean is running the DNC. I also thank the Creator that there are still Democrats like Dennis Kucinich, Jim McDermott, Barbara Boxer, and Barbara Lee who are still willing to stand up to those fascists. Things have got to turn around in this party or you will continue to lose votes! Howard Dean is the voice of millions of Democrats that have seen their party move to close to the right and lose focus on the real issues. The issues of the people not corporate interests. The issues of jobs, wages, the environment, civil liberties, among others. Not issues like abortion, religion, invading other countries, and how much money can the party get from the mulitnationals.

I will support the Democratic Party however, I am becoming VERY selective on whom I throw my support to. I will support fighters not wimps! 2006 and 2008 are approaching fast. I better see some good results from the Democrats otherwise I am done!

1. When did Reid apologize?
Reid is one of the best fighters we have. And to not acknowledge that and honor it is dishonesty.

3. Yeah
but he also very pointedly didn't apologize for the "liar" comment.

4. I just wished they would just stick to their guns.
They should just start taking the gloves off and start fighting the Neocons. Not enabling them or backing down. That's all!

5. Me too
but one has to admit that not retracting the "liar" part of the statement allowed him to get an extra hit in when he retracted the "loser" part.

7. Because we're losing our base, a large part of the 40% of people who don't
vote because they don't see a difference between the parties. The so-called "swing" voters are about 4%.

14. Unfortunately
that doesn't tell me anything.

I have to say he's right about the swing voters vs. the people who don't bother anymore. I know I was hesitant to vote Democratic for quite some time because I saw a lot of them as beholden to special interest as the Reapers are. I voted Libertarian because, at least, I know that they stand for civil liberties over just about anything else.

Too bad they're so close to the Reapers on economic issues.

Corporate sponsorship of Democratic candidates makes me a little nervous. What can I say? I particularly don't trust a Democrat who votes yes on p.o.s. bills like "Bankruptcy reform."

Not real thrilled with them voting yes on the whole flag desecration Amendment thing either.

Makes me wonder if they're mice, if they're bought off, or if they're just stupid.

15. I am not saying I am going to support a third party candidate but...
the Democrats stray towards Republican Lite again and be like "me too." then he or she will not get my support nor the vote. Plain and simple! I saw Al Gore do this and I saw John Kerry do this. Aren't they ever going to learn to just give the people what they want instead of waffling into saying they would continue to keep troops in Iraq among other things?

I do hope the Democrats can find some candidate for 2008 that is going to fight the Neocons toe to toe and better distinguish themselves and their platform from the Neocon-artists. Otherwise I am going to find it very difficult to vote for them. The same goes for the midterms in 2006. I am sorry but the truth hurts. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me!

13. I think focusing on swing voters was our problem
during the last election. Kerry's campaign was too preoccupied with maintaining a "moderate" image, and that is what backed him into the "flip flop" corner. And so the campaign became more about "Well I'm not going to change the policy (i.e. Iraq), but I'll do a better job at it. Vote for me if you want someone different in office." That was a very weak campaign.

Had we had a firebrand like Howard Dean running against the shrub, swing voters would have seen the difference between the two candidates. And they would've seen that the Dems stood for something.
