Similarites Between GWB And The New Iranian President (Video)
Edited on Mon Jun-27-05 08:13 AM by Mark Williams

BBC World News MP3/ Video Link

As I watched this 'BBC World News' report on the Iranian elections I noticed something very similar to our elections. First of all take a look at the transcript from the above video.

Ahmadinejad reportedly spent no money on his campaign but opponents say he was backed by powerful conservatives he used their network of mosques to mobilize support for him as part of an organized attempt at vote rigging.

Doesn't that sound familiar? Of course George Bush spent money on his own campaign but I'm talking about the other parts. George Bush relied on powerful conservatives to get elected and instead of relying on a network of mosques George W. Bush relied on a powerful network of churches to garner support for his conservative ideas.

Now the vote rigging part can be argued either way but for all intensive purposes putting gay marriage and other hot social issues on the ballot isn't the most honest way to drive voters to the ballot box.

Okay so what's my point? My point is that the Bush administration has http://www.boston.com/news/world/articles/2005/06/17/bush_criticizes_iranian_elections/">criticized the Iranian elections and some in the administration have called the entire system "undemocratic" but if you look at the big picture both the president of Iran and the president of the United States were elected in a very similar fashion.
