Texas, I am so sorry "Sen. Hutchison to Seek Third Term"
I can't stand this gal.

DALLAS (AP) - Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison officially announced Monday that she will seek a third term, saying she could have beaten Gov. Rick Perry next year but decided she could serve Texas better by staying in the Senate.

The 61-year-old GOP senator denied getting any pressure from Republican officials to avoid a primary race against the governor.

"I disagreed with those who say that somehow a primary contest would be bad for the Republican Party," Hutchison said. "I am convinced that parties in power should never fear serious primary contests."

Hutchison said she wanted to stay in Washington to work on federal issues such as homeland security and tax relief. She is in line to rise to the No. 3 position in the GOP Senate leadership after the 2006 elections.

1. I'll be out of here before the next election
All Texas Democrats should move to swing states where their votes will be far more valuable.

12. I love Texas Democrats!

Outspoken, courageous, creative, sharp tongued, and not afraid of a fight. The Texas "Killer Ds" in the State House demonstrated some laudable unity and Civil Disobedience that should be studied by our National Party.

Ann Richards
Bill Moyers
Molly Ivins
Jim Hightower
I don't believe any of them are planning on quiting the fight.

More Democrats from safe Blue States should move to Texas and join the fight!
My Populist Liberal roots are in rural Texas. A minority for sure, but strong, vocal, and PROUD!

4. Haha!
I'll be moving the Louisiana by the 2008 election. True, it isn't as swingin' as some others, but it's my best close-to-family swing state option. And I do see some potential in the state.

11. Kerry got 46% in LA as opposed to 39% in Texas.
Louisiana has a future, it's a little dim but still they have a future, unlike Texas.

14. Actually Kerry, only got 42% here in Louisiana
I believe that Gore got around 46%. However, we have a strong dem establishment that usually pretty good at beating the repukes with their own tactics. Bobby Jindal was clearly one of the best candidates that they had and Blanco managed to beat him with a well run (and dirty) campaign.

The thing that I worry about with Louisiana is that it will have to turn to the dark side on the state and local levels as well (like MS, AL, GA, and TX have) before it can come back. I'm also concerned that Arkansas might start slipping to the GOP on the state and local levels as well.

13. Why was she going to challenge Perry?
I never really understood that, unless she wanted to run for President as a governor. But she's so old.

How much more did you get donated to your Senate run by making this decision, Kay?

17. She was probably afraid that Perry the Idiot would run for
something else and do some serious damage. Of course, he's done a surprising amount of damage as governor of TX.
