Poll question: 2008 Swing State Scenario: Allen versus Clinton. Vote!
Here's the scenario:
- Hillary gets the Dem nomination. She picks a running mate to the left of Evan Bayh.
- Senator Allen gets the GOP nomination two months later, finally beating Frist. He chooses a fundie VP.

A pretty possible scenario. Nothing out of the ordinary.

It's Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

The Democrats have gained two seats in the 2006 Senate elections (and look to gain 1 or 2 more by most estimates). The GOP has a House majority by 20 seats. Bush has replaced Rehnquist on the court, but no one else has retired. Polls show the race neck-and-neck - no one knows who's gonna win - and that it could come-down to one state. Your state's polls show that the electoral votes could go either way.

What do you do?

I wanna see where DU is on this. Should be interesting. :hi:

1. George Allen is a lifelong racist
whose idea of office decor is a noose and whose idea of a living room decoration is a Confederate flag. As long ago as high school he got in trouble for spraypainting racist graffiti. (I was in his HS class.)Lott's racially tinged comments got him demoted within the party. I can't see the repukes putting Allen on the ticket. Too potentially embarrassing. The repukes couldn't do any worse.

At any rate if he did end up on the ticket and was facing Hillary, I'd gladly vote for her.

2. Wow.
I didn't know that. Interesting.

I would've went for Frist for this poll, but my pulse with the GOP is mostly on the freep site and a few family members. They all seem to have diminished opinions of Frist after the nuclear "deal." And they expected him to be able to magically stop the Democrats from obstructing EVERYthing. Silly cons..! :P

Anyway, they seem to be thinking of Allen as the logical next choice. It'll probably change between now and 2008, just as it could for our side too..

5. I held my nose with Kerry....
I'd hold it tighter with Hillary.

But I'd still vote Dem.

There would be no other choice.

6. I don't like Hillary but I would vote for her in a heartbeat, because...
It would be the ultimate revenge on the GOP if she were elected President.
