FBI whistleblower Rowley running for Congress as a Dem
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 09:09 AM by Minnesota_Lib
Good news for us Minnesota Dems...and the U.S. as a whole.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Former Minneapolis FBI agent Coleen Rowley, whose public criticism of the bureau set off an uproar over the FBI's pre-Sept. 11 counterterrorism lapses, said Monday that she will run as a Democrat for the U.S. House.

Rowley plans to challenge second-term Republican Rep. John Kline in Minnesota's Second District, which stretches across the Twin Cities' western and southern suburbs and as far south as Le Sueur and Red Wing.

She said she will formally launch her campaign July 6 with a pancake breakfast for friends and supporters on the driveway of her Apple Valley home.

Her entry into the race, as one of Time magazine's former "Persons of the Year," pits Kline against an opponent with national name recognition and possibly, fundraising appeal.

Well, it certainly will be interesting to watch her Republican opposition paint her as being soft on terrorism?

1. Wonderful news.
I hope you and some of the other Minnesota dems will keep us up to date on the progress of her campaign. I would part with a few coins to see her in the House. :toast:

2. Great! I wish her luck..
Hope she wipes the ground with that incumbant republican that she's challenging. I'm sure she can use our support in the coming months.

3. and Bush gives humanitarian award to "slamdunk" Tenet
Her testimony at the hearing makes you wonder if 9-11 could have been avoided,-- never know now Bush fired all those at the CIA who didn't agree with him on 9-11 intel.

14. Her web site is up--but not much there yet.

http://www.coleenrowley.com/

It looks like they are just getting this up. Nothing much but a placeholder with her pix and email addy right now.

Hopefully they'll get a good site up and running soon. Keep checking...and in the meantime send her an encouraging email. :-)

11. 2nd District is going to be tough,
but if anyone can do the job, I'd put money on Rowley. John Kline is a two-bit hack carpetbagger from Texas. I would thrill me to no end to send him packing.

13. Hallelujah! This is one incredibly brave patriot! We badly need that
kind of steel spine in Congress. She will be wonderful!

But I hope Minnesota does something about its Bushite-controlled electronic voting machines before the election. Or, if you can't, then get yourselves a steel-spined, legal, election monitoring group in place for the vote count. They'll twiddle this election for sure, if they can. Beware!

21. She is so going to get a donation from me
She royally spoke truth to power at the hearings in '02. She would be a nice thorny rose in the House Republicans' arses.
