Edwards throws down the gauntlet
Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina said the more people see him up close and watch his debate performances, the more they believe he should be president.

"I intend to beat John Kerry for this nomination, and I will fight with everything I've got," Edwards said on ABC.

If the race does turn into a Kerry-Edwards contest, I would be overjoyed. Either of these gentlemen would make a fine nominee.

May the best man win!

1. absolutely
I can't wait to see these two go head-to-head throughout the states. It's going to be one hell of a primary all the way through and for once, I believe the Convention will actually be worth remembering.

May the best man win.

8. It's going to be a battle of ideas and vision, and the winner
is going to be taking some POWERFUL winning positions into the general election.

It's going to be great.

2. I think Edwards would win

He is far more likeable. Kerry has the bigger organization, but Edwards has something special.

3. edwards should aim for 1st in new hampshire, if he gets 2nd or 3rd
he will still be considered a winner there. after new hampshire it the race moves to edwards strong areas. i do believe he will be the strongest in the south and win there.

5. Southern Demos are a rare and dignified
breed. Clinton, Byrd, Edwards, Hollings, Carter, and now Clark.

6. I support Kerry
but have no problem whatsoever with an Edwards candidacy.

I would love to see Kerry and Edwards debate, one-on-one, here in Chicago for the primary March 17 (I think, might be 18th). Just might blow off my finals to see that one...

John Edwards is a "nice" man. Stop saying he is a Ken doll.

15. If it comes down to a Kerry/Edwards race, the party can consider
itself lucky. Both are classy, electable candidates. I'd still prefer Clark, but Edwards is my strong second choice, and Kerry my 3rd.
