3. because they have to give meaning to the loss |
|
in reality all it will do is destroy more lives, both Iraqii, and American, and in the end we not win
because of this insanity, more of your children will be scrificed, and we will be involved in middle east wars for years to come
become energy independent, and you can tell them all to go to hell, but unfortunately that is not what will happen

4. Perhaps it's because she desperately needs to believe |
|
that her son died for a worthy cause.
Take that away from her, and she would have to confront the fact that her own much-loved little boy died for nothing. I can understand that viewpoint to an extent.

I agree... I just watched an interview on cnn and the two mothers were of different views.. but the older mother could not agree with * more and my husband asked why...she has to hold on to something... I think the younger mothers see it differently though..
what do you think ?

10. that cnn mother was a little scary, she couldn't say much |
|
she didn't know why she supported bush, just kept saying her son believed in what he was doing and she supported the president.
she also said she got to meet the president, he consoled her personally. wonder if that was after she made public statements supporting him.

5. Consider the alternative |
|
Realizing your child gambled his life on a greedy self-serving deserting madman of a commander-in-chief who literally invented this war. If there's anything worse than being fooled, it's ADMITTING that you've been fooled.

7. They are in denial of the guilt they bear from not paying for college |
|
and encouraging their kids (sons AND daughters) to enlist as a way to earn money for tuition. In some cases, the parents truly couldn't afford the money for higher ed, but I think in many cases, parents chose not to make a sacrifice - remortgage the house, reduce their life style, take out education loans, whatever to pay for school. Of course, if they could have seen into the future, I'm sure they would have made a different decision, but it's too late for them now. Or maybe if college was not a goal of the son or daughter, the parents just thought military service would provide job training and/or experience that would give the kid a good start at landing a decent job post service. I don't know how else they can survive without rationalizing that their child's life must have been given for a good cause, not to subsidize the corporate war profiteers.

That's why I ALSO talked about those whose goal was NOT college but job trainig/experience. Certainly military recruitment for many years has pushed job training & experience and/or money for college tuition as reasons to enlist. One friend of mine'sson haws just gotten discharged and has $70,000 to spend on tuition - but his Dad says the boy was told by the Army they'll be calling him back up.

13. Because she can't face the reality that her child... |
|
died without good reason. They all think IF we could win in Iraq it would be okay. Speaking from experience of losing people I loved in Vietnam, it was for no reason. One day she will come to terms with it when she can, emotionally. Anyone who has lost a life in war is always haunted by that loss. Losing more lives in a battle that is already lost never makes any more sense. War is just plain stupid, especially Iraq built on a total lie. That's why our country is suppose to follow the rules and only put our soldier's lives on the line when there is no other choice. The last time that happened, I think was WWII.
This war, or the soldier's lost in Vietnam does not diminish their duty or the ultimate sacrifice made for this country. They are all still hero's and they belong to all of us. This is the reason we must take care of them and fight for their rights. In the military, they have no rights. Hero's all, every last one - the blame and their blood is on the hands of those who sent them.
Our leader's need to be held accountable.
