8. Why should we assume
God is good? There's no evidence for such a claim.

7. I like the yin yang symbol
"good" and "bad" are an inseparable dance that moves the wold froward. Notice the dot in the symbol it represents the fact that their is no such thing as pure "good" or "bad"

9. I like that with the yin yang. A subject I've thought about
continuously over the years. I think of it as the "snow" on a television with no reception. "Shades of gray". They're made of black and white, but few, if any have the perception, patience, or ultimate wisdom to separate the two enough to show a complete and unadulterated absolute. Unfortunately there are rarely easy answers. Our lot in life is to try with all our might to figure it out. If we garner even a glimmer of the truth, we can call our time on this earth a success.

11. good and bad are aspects of human experience, not reality
I don't think the universe knows about good and bad in the same way fido does.

16. The key word in the question is "absolute"
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 12:43 PM by donkeyotay
Can humans know anything to absolute certainty? Seems that the greatest truths humans can ascertain are paradoxical in nature. For example, society's freedom is based on an agreement to limit individual freedom. We write laws to prevent infringing on other people's freedom. Freedom is relative, not absolute.

Our current nightmare is partly based on a belief in absolutes: some have absolute knowledge of God, and some can identify absolute evil. It's absolutely bullshit! Whether of not absolute evil or absolute good exist, we are not its definers. We are fallible, and we get into trouble when we forget that.

on edit: changed, "we are not it's agents" to "we are not its definers." Need a better word, still.
