Out of curiousity...What does the typical DUer read/watch/listen a day? |
|
Regarding politics and current events. How informed are we all?
I read the NY Times, WA Post, everything on Truthout.com, stray articles and op-eds from DU, plus the editorial and op-eds from the Arizona Daily Star here in Tucson. I also check out updates from Crisispapers.org and Counterpunch. I get Dave Sirota's blog, and a host of columnists both from the Left and Right. I read whatever latest books that I can, depending on my cash flow and what they have at the library.
I don't really watch network news. I check out Jim Lehrer every once and awhile, Frontline, Now and all the Sunday morning Network shows.
Sometimes I read policy reports and look up declassified documents for fun, but not that often.
So what do you all do? I imagine most of you are pretty similar.

1. In addition to articles and op-eds submitted to this site |
|
and my 2 other political newsgroups:
Usually the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, New York Times occasionally (usually sunday), CBC's nightly news, CBC Newsworld (usually a few hours a day), BBC Newshour, the documentary/investigative programs the Fifth Estate, and Frontline, plus a daily check of the websites of the CBC, BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera, Pravda, Topix.net, the LA Times, and Alternet.

2. Don't know that I'm typical... |
|
and in fact, I imagine most of you read more than I do.
I glance at most everything on DU, and read fully anything that particularly interests me. I read DailyKos and TruthOut every day too. I read BBCNews, Washington Post, NYTimes on-line every day. Other than that, my reading on other websites is limited to links I find on the sites above. "Paper news" is somewhat limited by my location, but I do read International Herald Tribune, and the local English language paper (which has very little international news in it).
The only TV news I watch is BBC, though I do catch the Daily Show on CNN (though they only show it once a week here - bummer!)
I read mostly political science and history books, but in fits and starts depending on how much time I have.

3. Times of London, Le Monde... |
|
Toronto Star, La Presse from Montreal, usually try to get a German perspective through my translation software, basically anything BUT the American mainstream press. I do trust the San Fran Chronicle to some extent.
