What is up with Hugh Shelton?
I have heard that he is either A)Advising Edwards, B) Supporting Kerry, or C) Both.

Does anyone know for sure? Links?

1. at one point
in 2003, he was touted as an Edwards foreign policy advisor and that they had known each other from NC for years. I haven't heard any recent confirmation of a continuing role.

Shelton seems to have disappeared since his drive by smear on Wes Clark.

2. Went to same college as Edwards (NC state). They've known
each other since way-back. Edwards has consulted him on national security since '98, because of their pre-existing relationship. He has made a point of saying he doesn't endorse Edwards.

Wouldn't be surprised if he endorsed Kerry because of backgroung (service) and because he goes out of his way to say he hasn't endorsed Edwards -- but never heard that he had anything to do with Kerry before this post. What's your evidence?

5. longtime friends with edwards
i don't believe there is anything to show he is supporting kerry, especially since he helped edwards with some mtp interview.

6. He's advising Edwards...go look at this article.
Shelton is ripping Clark for not following Pentagon orders; as Allied Commander, however, Clark says he was obliged to discuss strategy with ALL allies. Edwards may maintain a veneer of positivity, but behind his boyish grin is the truth that he has unleashed Shelton to do the hatchet job on Clark.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4052506/

"I was forthcoming," Clark insisted. "If gave me an instruction, I did it. I would never have not done what they told me to do. But the truth is, they weren't in touch with the situation well enough to tell me everything to do. It's why you have the title supreme allied commander... The buck usually stopped on my desk... I had, by necessity, a certain independence. Yet no matter how many times I tried to bring Hugh Shelton and Washington to understand the allied side, it didn't compute. They just didn't see it." General Shelton, Clark's aides are quick to note, is now listed as an unpaid adviser to the John Edwards campaign.
