That would give us a fighting chance in Ole Miss.

34. You're kidding me, right...
Did you forget the incident at the end of the year in 2002 that forced Trent Lott to resign his job as majority leader.

Most of my family are in Texas and Florida, and Zell being on the ticket would be TERRIBLE. Breaux, Graham or Edwards would be a MUCH better and more palatble choice for MOST Southerners, IMO.

25. Breaux is only slightly more tolerable than Miller
You can cross Evan Bayh and Joe Biden off the list too.

Hey, here's a great idea... how about NOBODY FROM THE DLC on the ticket. Then maybe we can win this thing!

36. I'll admit, on the national level Breaux comes out as a DINO...
But if you lived here in LA you'd like him a lot more when you see him campaigning for fellow dems. Not to mention that he looks like Jesus Christ when compared to the Republicans that want to replace him.

11. Oh PULEEESE!
Playing politics as if it were a poker or football game is why we have the political mess we have today!!
Its time for some straight talk - it may not be the "in" thing but unless a few people start standing up and trying to be honest rather than prostetuting themselves for a deal to win, this country is in worse shape than I thought. A SAD suggestion.

Michael Dukakis tried reaching to the right with vp pick of loyd Bentsen, and it didn't work.

Bill Clinton chose Al Gore, who is similarly centrist, and won.

The nominee should pick a running-mate who is on the same place on the political spectrum as he is.

19. If Zell Miller was anywhere near a dem ticket
I would have a hard time voting at all.

And I have voted in every presidential election since I became eligible.

There is no reason to have a republican on the dem ticket. There are many of us around this nation who fear for the very life of our republic because of the Bush junta.

That Miller has come out in support of Bush, to me, makes him the equivalent of the Vichy French.

I wish Miller would leave the democratic party...he is now part in name only anyway after his endorsement of Bush and his pander-book.

It's so strange to me that the south can ****always**** be wrong on every issue which affects this nation, yet can continue to have any influence on policy.

****civil war
****segregation
****creationism pseudoscience
and Texas textbook tyranny
***tax revolt, while getting so many of the benefits of the same
***some of the lowest levels of educational competence in the U.S.
****cronyism as a synonym for capitalism
***gay rights
***abortion rights
***legalization of drugs
***prison vs rehab for drug abuse

etc...

in other words, if you look at the advancement of western civilization as an ideal of greater enlightenment democracy and rights for all, the south consistently sides with regressive ideas.

I'm from the south, fwiw, in case anyone wants to accuse me of being apart from these issues.

I know them because I grew up in the south and there is no way I would ever live there again, unless I was forced to.

23. I've never understood
why someone would vote based on the bottom half of the ticket. The VP is powerless, except as the President chooses to delegate power to him. So if you were conservative, why would you vote for a liberal president just because he had a conservative on the ticket with him? Or the other way around? Someone explain why this would make sense.

that he was retiring I thought, ah - Miller wants VP job. but then Miller turned into a Republican. He's the anti-McCain. Anyway, Isakson will be taking Miller seat and hopeful Miller will rot and stop poking his nose in Democratic issues.

PS - I hate being from Georgia.

But McCain doesn't quite go to the extent of walking accross the isle to sign his name on a "bipartisan" bill every time Frist asks him to.
