The Bush Speech Drinking Game

Radical Russ over at Pam's House Blend has a great idea for those of us who find it hard to stomach yet another arrogant and misleading Bush speech:

"The rules of the game are pretty simple. Whenever Shrub says "9/11" or "September 11th", it's time to do a shot. For "Global War on Terror", it's time to chug a beer. It's a fun game, because after his 96 words of introduction and thanks to the carefully crafted and shamelessly-exploited backdrop assembled soldiers from Fort Bragg, he's not ten words into the opening sentence of his opening paragraph before I'm downing a shot of 100-proof Southern Comfort and chugging a Hefeweizen. . . .

My inebriation lowered my inhibitions enough to resort to shouting at the TV when I heard this: Hear the words of Osama Bin Laden: "This Third World War is raging" in Iraq."

Keith Olbermann reported on MSNBC tonight that the number of folks who tuned in to hear the Bush speech was far fewer than ususal, and those that did tune in were largely the militant Bush fans. As Keith pointed out, that can be a problem when the entire purpose of the media event was to get the Bush approval ratings up.

Perhaps so few of us tuned in because we expected the speech to be more of the same, or:

"A disastrous speech by a paralyzed and inarticulate commander in chief who has nothing new to say, but figures saying it in front of a room full of people in uniform, with the word "terrorist" mentioned as frequently as possible, somehow gives it heft and gravitas."

If, like me, you missed the latest "disastrous speech," you can catch up at Crooks and Liars where the Bush Speech-Round Up is both easier to stomach and more illuminating than the "inarticulate commander in chief" could ever hope to be.

Next time around, I'm seriously considering playing the Bush Speech Drinking Game.

I hadn't thought about that. Oh well, still it might beat the unmitigated rage and high blood pressure I experience everytime the First Idiot opens his mouth. We may all end up dead from shrub policy anyway.

actually, a more nuanced version would be to have a drink each time he spoke in the passive voice. Oh, wait, that would be pretty fatal, too. He almost always speaks in the passive voice.
