5. What other nation, the president commands the U.S. armed |
|
...forces, most powerful force the world has known. China has manpower, but lacks a navy and sufficient arms to wage a take-over war against the U.S. Russia is a nuclear power on the scale of the U.S. but lacks the resources to carry out a war of invasion, plus it doesn't have the will. Arab nations have only the oil spigot, but Bush has 145,000 occupation troops and Israel as its allie in the middle east and could subdue any rebellion by oil rich arabs. Europe's NATO hasn't enough muscle, the UN forces are not a military force which would invade and conquer. Bush is protected. Should he decide to remain in power at the end of his insane term in office, who would oppose him, who would remove him. welcome to the U.S.S.A:yoiks:

8. no they can't invade us |

Edited on Thu Jun-30-05 06:49 PM by Pharaoh
but it will be a pretty simple trick for Iran to close the straits of hormuz and or take out the Saudi oil fields, which would pretty much crash the world economy, which is a house of cards anyway..........

11. i wouldn't be so sure |
|
i never thought two airplanes could hit a couple of buildings in NYC either. if someone had told me it could happen i would have thought them battier than the carlsbad caverns.
nothing would surprise me now. and when i put myself in the place of world leaders and think about what they must think of us and our idiot emperor, i just wonder if we are being too trusting.

7. No, that won't happen. |
|
What will happen, though, is that new alliances will be formed against us longer term. Other countries now realize that the United States cannot be trusted to abide by any rules or agreements.
Until Bush*, most countries believed we would use our power wisely and with restraint. The Chimperor has proved how naive that belief was. They know if the Americans elect a clown like Bush*, anything is possible. And since the Americans elected a clown like Bush*, it will undoubtedly happen again.
So, expect a counter-balancing alliances to start taking shape.

Although I agree with the premise that we have a rogue head of state that needs reining in. However, for the reasons of our massive military force that we still have, and (very importantly) our nuclear deterrent. I doubt highly we run the risk of a conventional attack upon us.
With that being said though - I find it a LOT more likely that we Americans are not safe to travel over seas. I also find it likely that we are now at greater risk of Israel style terrorist attacks upon us here than we have ever been.
All thanx to that brilliant idiot of a chimp we proudly proclaim as our President - /sarcasm

12. A military takeover or war, no. |
|
(Although if China were 50 years further down the road in development, I'd give a different answer.)
What _may_ be happening, though, is that all the buying up of our debt and our companies may give other countries the leverage to pressure us more effectively in future.
