Q: Kerry supporters (1991 GW) |
|
Senator Kerry did not vote for the first Gulf War. Since I'm kinda new to this Kerry thing, what is our standard defense?

3. He felt Bush1 had not properly prepared the American people for it. |
|
Bush hadn't rallied the public around the war and, after Vietnam, Kerry thought having the people behind you and understanding your purpose is the only way to commence use of force. Sometimes people forget that the American people were NOT in favor of going to war at the time.

4. And his current IWR vote was to steer Bush back to the U.N. |
|
He supported the coalition that BushI eventually collected, and eventually supported the war.

5. He was definitely listening to his Mass. constituents on that one then |
|
I thought he was still looking for a diplomatic solution. Or even deeper, maybe looking to expose the shoddy diplomacy of April Glasspie. - A strange case of prevention and cure compounded upwards a level or 2.

6. We were on the edge of a peaceful resolution at that time, I think |

This was the time of the circulating "baby incubator" stories, but before the oil well fires, etc.

I don't have standard defenses on anything. If you disagree with something Kerry has done, feel free to say so--we aren't very organized in that regard. :) For example: I disagree with his IWR vote, but I understand the likely reasons behind it.

I don't defend his IWR vote. It was wrong. He explains it better now, but...
But the man is more than that vote.
I talked to some Dean supporters this weekend and told them why I was supporting John. We all hate this war and know/knew it was bullshit.
Everybody I meet in the flesh world says ABB.
Although I did meet a "Richard Nixon" Republican yesterday. Disgusting prick.
