How does Clark cut taxes for single people?
On Meet the Press this morning we heard Clark say that with his tax plan, a family of 4 making 50K or less would pay no income tax.

OK, that sounds great, but how about single people or couples? Are they also going to get a tax cut? And if so, what is the threshold for zero income tax for singles and couples? A specific dollar figure or a specific URL would be great!

1. Whether this is his policy I don't know but it would be good policy!
Tax incentives for people to get married and stay married.

7. You are NOT getting screwed.
I am married and have ONE child and with our tax bracket our taxes are not going to change and neither will yours. He is TRYING to help the POOR in this country and I do NOT begrudge them that.

4. Yeah, as if all the people who are unmarried or childless
are that way out of sheer unpatriotic cussedness.

5. careful now
you will soon be called selfish for pointing this out. Then the person who does so will deny having done it. Just watch and wait.

6. To be accurate
If you are single and have kids (or one parent in a civil union), you will receive help, you don't have to be married to be considered a family under the plan..

8. As for single people...
I posted this earlier in the other thread about Clark's tax plan. I pulled these excerpts from the Tax Plan pdf over on Clark's site. Single people are mentioned.

"And tax breaks for 3.2 million poor childless workers, which can be used to defray
payroll taxes and work-related expenses."

AND

"Expanded benefits for low-income adults without children. Clark’s Tax Reform builds
on the existing EITC for childless adults, raising the maximum credit from $382 to $500."

9. The EIC threshold for single people
is quite low, proportionately lower than the $50,000 for parents that Clark is proposing.

10. General Clark has finally realized
that the way to win the presidency is to propose to eliminate the federal income tax for 51% of the people.

11. Under Clark's Plan you will stay where you are on taxes
My family's taxes will rise by over $5K under Clark's plan even though I am married and have kids. I am not complaining. In fact I am more than willing to pay to help lift families out of poverty and give hope to America. As a life long Democrat, I am willing to pay even more, if it helps the kids. They are the future of our country. Any benefit this family received from the Bush tax cut has gone back to social programs and donations to Democratic Candidates.

13. email him and I'm sure he'll promise you anything too
never mind that there is no way in heck this gets through a right controlled Congress. He can just shrug his padded shoulders and say he gave it a shot.
