The California National Guard is being investigated after being accused of spying on some state residents and destroying documents that may prove the allegations. The investigation began when a newspaper reporter uncovered e-mail messages that the Guard may have been tracking anti-war protesters at the state Capitol....more on the site

2. Wouldn't surprise me; I bet most Rethuglicans think Kent State and
Jackson State were GOOD things.
'Absolutely right and proper, that the government should have spies poking their noses into citizens' activities, especially those under First Amendment "protection." (Quaint document, the Constitution...rather like the Geneva Conventions.)'

Research COINTELPRO of the 1960s. Then (and I cannot emphasize this enough) be very careful of who is in your protest group and the planning committee thereof, and what kind of suggestions they give for actions. Those who recommend violence of any kind should be shown the door and not allowed back in.
