"I'm not concerned about Osama bin Laden."
Remember when bush said that?

I know a lot of the DUers are asking for decorum and consideration for the dead in London, but I think that we should give them the same consideration we give to dead Iraqi's killed by our terrorist President. Do we have a 24 hour moratorium for civilians killed by U.S. terrorism?

It may seem distasteful to some, but I believe that this is the perfect time to remind anyone who will listen that our President broke his promise to get bin Laden, that our President is the least qualified person on the planet to lead the war against Al Qaeda.

So those of you who prefer good taste can morn in silence but I intend to use this day to remind everyone that our President is not concerned about Osama bin Laden, and by extension, not concerned about the bombings in London or the bombings last March in Madrid. And if I burn in hell for my insensitivity, at least I will not burn in hell for my complacency.

1. That's the quote we need to bring up ad nauseum
I think MoveOn should start an ad featuring that quote.

2. The real Hell is on Earth
We are in a battle of BushCo design, there is no time for decorum, and yes, pressing the fight gets more urgent every time the criminals escalate the battle.

". . .our President is the least qualified person on the planet to lead the war against Al Qaeda." Never has this been stated more explicitly. Sensitivity and compassion for the victims can return after BushCo has been sacked and destroyed.

4. I forgot about those.
I may be a little too angry to discuss this dispassionately right now. Another hundred or so people are dead today because * decided that fictional WMD were more important that catching a mass murderer.

5. Great minds and all that...
I wrote this BEFORE I learned of the London attacks.

I agree 100%. Bush could have ObL on a platter if he wanted, but that would have been the end of the Neocon agenda.

6. "My answer is bring them on."
"There are some who feel like that if they attack us that we may decide to leave prematurely. They don't understand what they're talking about, if that's the case.

Let me finish.

There are some who feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is bring them on. We got the force necessary to deal with the security situation."

7. It will be very interesting to see howe Bush handles the situation.
With his popularity in the toilet, will he raise the terror alert? If he does, that makes America wonder why we haven't gotten ObL yet.

If he doesn't raise the alert, and something should happen, all hell breaks loose.

If he doesn't raise the rterror alert, and nothing happens, people are still going to be bringing up ObL, a very uncomfortable situation.

9. It's not clear this was al-Qa'ida.
If it was, it's not clear that the group that pulled off the London bombings had anything more than scant ideological affiliation with al-Qa'ida.

If they did have more than ideological affiliation, it'll be difficult to show that they had more than training in al-Qa'ida camps in Afghanistan years ago.

If they had closer ties than that, it would be money and logistics, in which case UBL is unlikely to have done much himself.

As with Hamas and other such organizations, the emir may or may not take part in planning, suggesting, or supervising individual operations. That is not his only, or even necessarily his primary role.

That said, I'd also point out the plethora of comments on other threads, in other media, that al-Qa'ida is not a traditionally well-structured top-down US-style corporation; while it seems to have had such an element for a while, it also was always and apparently remains a cluster of affiliated and allied groups, and served to facilitate and coordinate activities, not organize them.
