Iraq is Al Qaeda's training ground. They NEED the UK in Iraq. |

So, faced with the possibility that Great Britain might be planning to withdraw its troops from Iraq, it makes perfect sense that Al Qaeda would plant some bombs in London to anger Britains and force them to continue the war. As a side bonus, the bombings might increase America's enthusiam for the war, too, helping to prolong our engagement in the conflict.
The real life, urban combact training which al Qaeda is getting in Iraq is invaluable.
This seems like the most plausible explanation. Much simpler than theories about * staging the attacks.
Seems like people in the US and GB would get tired of being jerked around on a leash by a bunch of religious fanatic terrorists. We ought to be smarter than them.
