No Intelligence on today's London attacks?? Are we flying blind?

All day I kept thinking about the US postings around the 4th holiday and the fact that intelligence sources kept saying there were no specific threats of violence. I wasn't feeling more or less safe b/c or it, just took note of the information.

What today showed me was that our intelligence and the UK's intelligence is NO BETTER today than it was pre 9/11. Watching Fox (waiting for Wes), Klerik and Ridge both said we need to improve our intelligence, we need to be viligant on intelligence.

Then Wes reports that we are $100B short on Homeland Security, including intelligence. We aren't spending money to do something to improve our chances in the US. We don't have the money.

Apparently, London had no warning (vague conflicting stories about Scotland Yard and the Israeli warnings aside). No warning means no intelligence picked up anything. Is that because the UK is spending the money on intelligence?

2. however....
i have been hearing all day that intelligence sees no threat to the usa...so there is intelligence that there is not a threat here...what does that tell us? if they know that the usa is not in danger, then how did they not know that london was in danger. knowing when something is not going to happen is saying that they do know when it will happen..and where.

5. My thoughts exactly...
If they had no prior intelligence indicating London and London got hit, then no prior intelligence indicating the US MEANS NOTHING!!!

3. At our southern border we have two gates, one for ME terrorists
who are pissed off because we invaded an oil rich Arab nation, and another gate for ME terrorists who are pissed off because we invaded an oil rich Arab nation.

Both gates are unguarded. Play through, your mileage may vary, not all rules apply, offer not valid overseas.

6. Do we know who did it?
It is assumed that the bombers are MEs, but do we know it wasn't the IRA?

That is same as the Oklahoma bombing everyone assumed it was the MET,
and it turned out to be a born US citizen with blonde hair and blue eyes.

9. This is the message that we need to get out - intelligence failure
Many people think that our new intelligence structure is protecting them - and so long as Bush* could say we fight there so they don't come fight here - people just assumed.

But London proves not enought investment in intelligence. I am saying that over the last few days the US affirmatively downplayed any risk of an attack - sounding to me like they heard zero, nada about this attack.

Plus we have a $100 B shortfall in intelligence funding.

17. Ther is no fool-proof method of protecting against desparado's
Just look at Israel, it is a tiny country compared to USA, yet
inspite of patriot laws ten times worse than ours, they still have
bombs going off amongst civilians.

We can spend ourselves into bankruptcy, and still there will be no
guarantee we will not be hit again.

10. Having one's head shoved so far up one's @ss would definitely
create blindness. I'd say this administration's been flying blind since January '01.

11. they're too busy paying halliburton for taco bells in the desert
to spend money on real reform of intelligence gathering operations around the world.

Bush let down his buddy, Blair in a BIG WAY.

The British people will rightly blame the sick terrorists but they will also blame Bush and company for time ill spent on a foreign adventure having NOTHING to do with sealing off and tracking down terror cells.

16. Israeli officials
stressed the advanced warnings to Scotland Yard does not in any way indicate Israel was the target in a series of apparent terror attacks. This is from Israeli National news..Not stupid if there is any truth to that statement.

Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 10:01 PM by zulchzulu
I'm beginning to smell a rat on this event in London.

Tony doesn't even have to know...it's all "taken care of". We are in one fucked up World right now.

If you can think it, and Chimpy and PNAC are involved, it is probably true.
