I JUST Can't Help It.... I CAN'T Let Go!
At the risk of being overly REDUNDANT because I've talked about it a LOT already, I Can't Let Go!

I just finished watching "The Girl In The Cafe" with Bill Nighy and Kelly McDonald for my FOURTH time. I think I must be stuck in a time warp or something. But given what happened today, when so many lives were at stake, this movie simply tears me apart.

Tomorrow, as it was in this movie is the TIME when 8 men could be GREAT! Is anybody listening??? Does anybody care???

Does it matter whose child it is????

I can recall a movie made some time back, BEFORE anyone would recognize that AIDS was more than a "little disease" that only affected Gays. A movie with Matthew Modine and Alan Alda... the name??? "And The Band Played On"! I still remember THAT one too! And if I recall correctly it was also a Made-for-TV movie presented by HBO. It just appeared one day, and it DID make a difference!

I Just Can't Help It... I Can't Let Go! This movie should make ALL of us THINK!

Perhaps some of you are saying, won't she ever SHUT up, already???? I guess not. It's only here at DU where I think some of you really care.

3. don't you ever shut up about it!
I'm in a knot today. for 10 straight hours the neighbor weed whacked what 2 years ago was a beautiful forest with tall evergreens and juicy ferns. the sound of his machine matched what i feel inside of me. I watched The Girl in the Cafe with my kids. the answers are all so simple, and GREED is the enemy.
Do you remember when she asked why there were no pictures? I believe that pictures are a part of the answer. Pictures of the starving and dying in Africa. Pictures of the reality of our occupation in Iraq. i have not been this sad in so long. Mike Malloy is talking to a mother whose son, Casey was killed in Iraq on his fifth day there. it is a time to mourn, but more important, a time for solutions.
peace and love ChiciB1

4. Thank You! As I Said... I Can't Help It!
You DID have a bad day. I won't go into what happened here.

Sometimes you just get stuck on something. Another scene in the movie, at the table... every 3 seconds another child dies, snap your fingers, snap them again... and another!

Something got stuck in my heart!
Peace & Love To You Too!

5. I have read your other posts about this movie, but after reading
this one I checked to see when it would come on and it runs in an hour so I will not only watch it, I will tape it. Thanks for the reminder; I might have missed it again.

8. Welcome To DU...
We Need You And All Your Friends, Relatives and any Strangers you can snag on the street!

Maybe you've been a lurker, no matter...

There's no way NOT to be affected by this movie, and they keep running it over and over. And I keep pushing it over and over! In a way, the way it's being played (low key) just might do more good than if they "splashed" like a Michael Moore movie.

I keep trying to get others involved. The title sure doesn't indicate what it's REALLY about. Ya think this was intentional???

I don't think I'll embarrass myself by posting it again, so tell everyone about it!
Think Worled Peas!!

15. I HAD A Bumper Sticker That Said
Visualize Worled Peas once. That's where I got it from!

Looks like they DID double the designated monetary aid to Africa. However, I haven't heard what the time frame is. I mean if it's from now to 2012, how much will that do??

But apparently Bono and Geldof think their concert was a success and actually put pressure on the Big 8! Too bad there wasn't more MSM coverage of the concert. I would love to have a copy of it though. I heard there was a download offered for a small window of time of McCartney's appearance.

Hey, I'm still behind the times.... I don't have a DVD yet!! Still using my VCR! I think that very soon that will be changed since even my 4 year old TV is outdated!

10. Best line in that movie
was about not getting involved with politics to make incrimental changes in tarrif restriction but to make a difference....

That one hit home.....

That one made me revisit all the years I have spent in the trenches and what was I really doing.......
