Dean said this AM - more women bankrupticies than women graduating last yr

from college.

I couldn't believe it. lack of health care is also the biggest reason for personal bankruptcy...connect the dots.

The Dr. gave an excellent speech on addressing these issues.

http://www.blogforamerica.com/

As President, Howard Dean has laid out several things he will do for women in this country.

He will deliver on issues of importance to women and all Americans: health care, child care, education, jobs, and aid for small business. He will help the 14 million women-owned businesses in the United States by creating new financing and easing paperwork requirements. His health care plan will save small businesses $12 billion a year.

He will support pay equity, so that women receive the same pay as men for comparable work.

7. I saw it
It was a awesome speech. Issues and solutions, bam, bam, bam. The women were nodding and applauding. Does the C-Span replay include the interviews with attendees afterwards? They were great.

4. John Edwards has been saying for months that children are more likely

to have their parents file for bankruptcy than divorce.

Glad to see that Dean is using variations on Edwards' analogies to make his points about bankruptcy. I don't know if it qualifies for the Plan Burglar, but it definitely gets an honorable mention.

:-)

5. Just So Dean
he doesn't say he is the son of a mill worker, we would all know that is bull. Edwards has the mill worker vote nailed anyway.

10. Edwards doesn't say he was a personal injury lawyer
making many millions off the backs of regular folks and accepting many millions from lawyers and lobbyists.

12. Have you asked those folks if they were glad he was their attorney?
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 09:18 AM by spooky3
They think he is worth every penny. He has proudly discussed his background repeatedly, so it's simply not true that he "doesn't say" it.

He has not accepted ANY money from registered lobbyists hoping to influence legislation before the Senate or House.

There has already been a comprehensive debunking of these myths on DU. Let's put it to rest.

13. "He has not accepted ANY money from registered lobbyists" -- WRONG
And if you'll notice, Edwards, to his credit, has dropped this falacious rhetoric from his speeches over the past few days. He still talks about the evils of lobbyists, but he no longer claims never to have accepted money from lobbyists.

14. There you go again: Edwards hasn't dropped anything from his speeches
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 04:55 PM by beaconess
You have been repeatedly corrected on this issue, yet continue to misstate Edwards' record and statements. Do you think that if you say it enough, someone will believe you?

John Edwards is still saying what he's been saying all along - that he doesn't take money from Washington lobbyists. He has, in fact, continued to say this in his speeches and interviews - as recently as yesterday:

"Well, first of all, I am the only person on this stage who has never taken a dime from either a PAC or a Washington lobbyist." John Edwards, AARP Debate, November 4, 2003

"And I'll tell you something else. I am the only candidate on this stage that will not take a dime from Washington PACs or -- from PACs or Washington lobbyists." ABC Presidential Debate, December 9, 2003

"There's something wrong with the impact that Washington lobbyists are having on our system of government . . . Which is why I have laid out a very clear set of proposals: banning contributions from Washington lobbyists. I've never taken any money from Washington lobbyists, but no one should be able to take money from them." WMUR Debate, New Hampshire, January 22, 2004

"I myself have worked as hard as I know how and fought for campaign finance reform. And not only that, I voluntarily don't take money from either Washington lobbyists or special interest PACs." CNN Late Edition, January 25, 2004
